Avoid sanding wood that only has stain on it, sanding will remove
some of the stain leaving an uneven appearance.
New wood should be stored inside for a minimum of 24 hours prior
to staining and properly prepared according to NOFMA or NWFA
specifications. Stain or varnish applied to wood that has not been
thoroughly dried can exhibit blotching, discoloration, or cracking.
These Varnishes are not recommended for use over lacquer,
unsanded sealer, shellac or wax stearate type stains.
Exotic woods like Brazilian IPE, Spanish Cedar, etc. should not be
sealed with this product. They are very hard woods which contain
large amounts of oils and could cause peeling. The best way to
protect these types of woods is to use an oil like Teak Oil or TWP.
EQUIPMENT
Stir varnish thoroughly before and during use. To prevent air
bubbles in the finish, do not shake, over-brush, or apply with a
roller. For best results on floors, apply varnish with a synthetic or a
lamb’s wool applicator or natural bristle brush at a coverage rate of
750 square feet per gallon. Varnish should be applied in thin coats
since thicker coats will result in an extended dry time. Always apply
