The internet and its websites are an


invaluable source of information shared by
the world; access to them is even considered
a human right by the UN.
DEFINITION OF WEBSITE
• A webpage is an HTML document provided by any website
that gets displayed on your web browser. website is the
group of web pages which are placed in a
location on the internet and accessed
through a single web address(domain name).
• A website has not only one but a group of interlinked web
pages. These web pages have information, graphics, video
content, etc.
• Content on a website is globally visible, publically used, remains
same for the different individuals.
• A website could be industry-specific, product specific or services
specific etc.;
• These websites are intended to educate their site visitors about
their industry, products or services information.
• Every organization maintains websites. It
helps them to communicate with their
customers. The process of designing and
creating a website is called web
development.
• HTML, cascading style sheets(CSS), and
JavaScript are the three basic languages used
in web development.
ACCESSING WEBSITES
• Web Server: Software responsible for handling
incoming requests and serving web pages to users.

• Web Browsers: The software used by visitors to access


and view websites, like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

• Domain Name- The web address that users type in to


access the site, such as www.amazon.com

stored and made accessible to users.

a particular page or the whole website.

 Under it are placed the breadcrumbs. These help the reader


to locate where they are on the website and help them to
locate to the previous page or the home page.

 The title or the heading of the webpage should be placed.


 Many informative web pages include a link for
feedback. A good webpage will always ask the reader
if the information was useful or not.

 In the end, comes the footer. The footer includes the


name and any other information about the website.

 The copyright and legal notice must be mentioned at


the end of each website in footer. This prevents the
information available from any theft of content. This
ensures the information provided remains unique.

various sizes of businesses and organizations.

• A splash or cover page is a very basic form of a
web page that is usually used by individuals or
startups who want to share their basic
company or organization information.

• It’s perfectly suitable for growing businesses or mid-
level enterprises. This level of a website contains

throughout the single page site, allowing visitors to

scrolling.

user. Audiences expect digital self-service and convenience and

page, and can either be used for personal use
or to fulfill a business need.

website -- but, unlike the rest of website,
