Participation Rubric (Total: 10 Points)

1. Engagement in Activities (3 Points)

 3 Points: Fully engaged in all class activities (group work, discussions, individual
tasks). Actively contributes ideas and stays focused throughout.

 2 Points: Generally engaged in activities but may occasionally lose focus or


contribute less than expected.

 1 Point: Rarely engaged in activities, shows minimal effort or focus.

2. Quality of Contributions (3 Points)

 3 Points: Contributions are insightful, on-topic, and demonstrate a strong


understanding of the material. Adds value to class discussions.

 2 Points: Contributions are relevant but may lack depth or connection to the topic.
Demonstrates some understanding of the material.

 1 Point: Contributions are off-topic, superficial, or show little understanding of the


material.

3. Active Listening (2 Points)

 2 Points: Actively listens to peers and instructor, responds thoughtfully to others’


points, and demonstrates respect during discussions.

 1 Point: Occasionally distracted or disengaged. Rarely acknowledges or builds on


others’ contributions.

 0 Points: Frequently inattentive, disrupts discussions, or shows disrespect to


others.

4. Preparation and Readiness (2 Points)

 2 Points: Always comes prepared with completed assignments or readings and is


ready to participate meaningfully in discussions or activities.

 1 Point: Occasionally unprepared or minimally prepared, limiting ability to


participate fully.

 0 Points: Rarely or never comes prepared, significantly hindering participation.

Scoring

 10 Points: Outstanding participation, exceeds expectations in all areas.

 8–9 Points: Strong participation, meets most criteria with minor lapses.

 6–7 Points: Adequate participation but with noticeable areas for improvement.

 0–5 Points: Minimal participation, fails to meet key criteria.
