DAILY ROUTINE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Good morning, Class! Good morning, Ma’am!

Are all present? No Ma’am!

Then who’s absent? Students will tell who’s absent in the

class.
Before anything else, everybody, kindly
put your cellphones in your bag and make
sure that it is in a silent mode so that you
will not get distracted when it rings. Is
that clear? Yes Ma’am!

Guide questions:
It is parallel lines if two straight lines
1. How do we say that a pair of lines
never meet each other no matter how long
are parallel, perpendicular or
we extend them. It is perpendicular lines if
intersecting?
two lines intersect at a right angle. It is
intersecting lines if two lines meet each
other at one point.

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Going back to this figure presented in our
previous activity. Aside from Parallel
lines, what else can you notice?

Ma’am, I can see that there is an Angles

formed in the picture.

Correct! And that is what we are going to

talk about today. Angles formed by
Parallel lines cut by a transversal.

To start with, let us consider this figure.

 Parallel lines are lines that are

always same distance apart and
will never intersect each other
while a transversal is a line that

By inspection, how many angles are

formed?
There are 8 angles formed, Ma’am!
The two parallel lines cut by a transversal
formed 8 angles and let’s name them as.
∠ 1 ,∠ 2, ∠ 3 , ∠ 4 ,∠ 5 , ∠6 , ∠ 7 ,∧∠ 8.

These 8 angles can be classified based on

their location and these are as follows.

Everybody read.

Examples:  Interior Angles are angles formed

in between the two parallel lines.

Interior angles: ∠ 2 , ∠ 3 ,∠ 6 ,∧∠ 7

We also have Exterior angles. Everybody

read.
 Exterior Angles are angles
located outside the two parallel
lines.

That’s right and from the figure a while

ago, Exterior angles: ∠ 1 ,∠ 4 , ∠ 5 ,∧∠ 8

Aside from the two mentioned

classification of angles formed by parallel
lines cut by a transversal, we also have the
following angle pairs.

First, Corresponding Angles. So, what is

corresponding angles?

A pair of angles of non-adjacent interior

Take note with non-adjacent.
and exterior angles on the same side
From this figure, which do you think are
the corresponding angles?

Okay, I’ll give one, then give me the other

pair of angles.
∠ 1∧∠3 are one of the corresponding
angles. Now, give me the other
corresponding angle. ∠ 2∧∠ 4
∠ 5∧∠ 7
Very good! ∠ 6∧∠ 8

Next is the Alternate Interior angles.  Alternate Interior Angles is a

on opposite side of a transversal.
So, we have 2 pairs of Alternate Interior
Angles which are ∠ 2∧∠7∧¿ ∠ 3∧∠ 6

Next is the Alternate Exterior Angles.

Kindly read_______.

∠ 1∧∠ 8
∠ 5∧∠ 4

We also have Same-side interior angles

and Same-side exterior angles.

 Same-side Interior Angles is a

Now that you are familiar with the

measurements.

Observe the measurements in this figure,

what can you notice?

The measurement of Same-side interior

angles and Same-side exterior angles are
supplementary.

Aside from that, what else can you notice?

That’s right! And it justifies the following

claims: There are measurements of an angles that
a) Linear pairs are supplementary. are congruent to its opposite angles.
example: ∠ 1∧∠5 are linear pairs.
m ∠ 1+ m∠ 5=108° +72 °=180 °
Then, what are the other linear pairs?

b) Vertical angles are congruent.

Example: ∠ 1∧∠6 are vertical angles
m ∠ 1≅ m∠ 6 , and it measures 108 °
Then, what are the other vertical angles?

To sum it up, the relationship of the

angles formed by parallel lines cut by a
transversal in terms of measurement are as
follows:
A. Congruent Angles – angles that
have equal measures.
 Vertical Angles
 Corresponding angles
 Alternate interior angles
 Alternate exterior angles

 Same-side exterior angles
