INTRODUCTION OF ON-THE OJT TRAINING
On-the-job Training is part of college curriculum which it aims to train and orient

students about proper work for leading their future career or path that may enhance their skills,

encouragement, responsibilities and knowledge about reality work according to their chosen

jobs. The On-the job training (OJT) is a very important topic for human resource management

due to its capability to develop a person's career of individual, communication, and large

enhancement of the organization's ethics, rules and regulation and future goals. It is influential

and well-established ways for students to apply new skills, building their foundation and be

competence while they are actually performing their job duties. This type of training is more

likely facilitated by the personnel who had more experienced to guides or instructs the trainees

through the learning process.

One of the main advantages of on-the-job training is that it enables workers to gain

practical experience and learn in an authentic setting, applying newly acquired abilities to their

duties. Since this kind of training enables workers to gain experience and skill through direct

application, it can be especially beneficial for positions requiring a high level of technical or

practical expertise. Additionally, it allows learners to get advice and corrections in real-time, it

offers the chance for quick feedback and support, which promotes more effective skill

development and performance improvement. Furthermore, employees who receive continual

development opportunities are more likely to feel valued and devoted to their firm, on-the-job

training frequently results in higher retention rates. This may lead to a more competent and

devoted team, which would eventually help the bottom line of the business.

18
MY PERSONAL STRATEGY

As part of our requirements, we have to undergo an on-the-job training for 600 hours. I

worked at the Philippine College of Science and Technology in the College of Computer Studies

Office. First day I started my duty was not that too hard for me to adapt the environment inside

the office because they warmly welcomed me. All I can do as students is to learn whatever I can

in school, be inspired, love the path I take and finally do our best in everything I do, with a

positive outlook in mind.

It took us more than a week to experience variety of clerical work then I have got to

communicate and approach different type of people in the office. I do encoding information of

every students and shorting documents. Because of the good working environment in the office,

it wasn't very hard for me to create my reports during the duration of the OJT period. I believe

that the things I've learned in this experience will greatly influence my life and in how I tackle

obstacles that will come ahead. OJT experience equips me with certain soft skills such as

communication skills through the face to face talked. Gaining work experience as a student is

that it gives me the chance to try things to see if what it suit for me. Even through I'm just a

student trainee. I didn't take me OJT for granted. I always want to do my best during my OJT.

For my whole stay as trainee in the office, I learned so much from Dean, Ma'am cielo, my

friends and to me personally. I have learned so much from ma'am cielo from her advice and from

what I can observe. I am happy to work with them and learned to work and establish my

communication skill which they are mostly part of it as well as I learned that working together in

good terms has always a goods impact to the work and to us all.

19
RELEVANCE/IMPORTANCE OF MY TRAINING
Having an On-The-Job Training was important not because it is part of the BS

Accountancy curriculum, but it will help me as an undergrad student to gain knowledge and

experience for my future endeavors in life. Through internship, I can apply the knowledge that I

have acquired to my future workplace. It also helps me to work professionally while meeting

new people and it also builds me to create connections to a professional world.

The practicum program that I took as an accountancy student helped me to apply all the

knowledge that I have learned in classrooms. I may not apply all the knowledge I have learned as

a future accountant, but expanded myself and network by talking to other persons from day-to-

day. My internship at the office made me feel like I am malleable like a sponge because I keep

absorbing all the information and knowledge that I need from meeting different people. They can

be a teacher, school administration, deans, or a book author. Aside from that, I have built my

confidence and my competitive edge through accepting all the task I have been given.

To summarize, I can learn something whether I am in the right practicum place or not

because I am the one who will give me a reason to learn and have experience. The OJT plays an

important vital role in every student because that is the first step to enter the field you want to be

in. It also provides a chance and opportunity to showcase my skills and capabilities to the

professionals while building my connections to them.

NARRATIVE
REPORT

33
NARRATIVE REPORT
On May 22, 2024, I started my internship at the Incubation Office and Computer Studies

Office. on our first day with ma’am Juvelle, I didn't think that ma’am was so kind to us, she

treated us like children. czarina, austin, disu, elvien and jasmine, with me in OJT, 6 of us together

in incubation. on the first day of school, what we did was to encode the documents and organize

the folder.

During the second week with ma’am Juvelle when Mon to Saturday came, we was

assigned to the incubation to safeguard the folders of the students and evaluation form to secure

their personal information which it is also the time where I helped the faculty members to clean

the incubation while waiting for other interns to be assign in incubation.

During the internship practice, ma'am Cielo became our adviser who gave us guidance

for our first job by orienting us what to do, the rules and regulation, especially our responsibility

as a member of the IT Office. When the on-the-job training started. I kept on waking up in the

morning at the exact 6:30 am to prepare myself to do my personal stuff so that I can be ready to

go to school. It actually took me half an hour to drive from my location to PhilCST therefore, so

I finished all my preparation before 8:00 am to get ready to leave.

I assist ma'am Cielo about the paper works to loads of papers that should be printed and

taken. It is very tiring to accept and received evaluation to the students because I have no

knowledge regarding to way I have to do but thankfully, ma'am Cielo assist me to where I should

do, where should I put the things in its proper place and what I should say. it was hard to I was

assigned to evaluate the students from BSA and BSBA program by plotting their grades. because

I was still there during the enrollment for the 1 st semester. There were a lot of students who came

and I needed to attend to their queries. But at the end of the day, we still did our best. August was

34
my busy day as there was a program for freshmen and transferees which the Student Leader

Council is the one who hosted the event. It was a long ride for my internship, but then, I still

finished it and I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge whether it is related to my

program or not. It was a pleasure to work in the IT office and Ma’am Ceilo.

3 week of August where my internship will end after 2 weeks, I have done some sorting

and encode grade, assisting ma'am Ceilo to her classes and learning how students behavior act

especially of the different programs. This On-the-job training made me realize that life is very

different from before when you are starting to get adult. If we will compare to the future where

you have to work and sustain yourself by working and apply to this internship, it is hardly to

imagine that not just your body should work in this type of circumstances but also your mind to

prepare for the plan and being creative. Also, you have to prepare yourself to embrace the

differences of people you have to interact that is why in this internship, it made me realize that

being professional should focus on prioritizing the behavior, skills, time management, social

communication and moral character to express.

Last week of our internship, I was so devastated to the fact that I have to leave work to

continue my review because honestly, these past few weeks earning the 300 hours, I was used to

see the students smiles, glares and even their questions although we don't have that much of good

interaction because of my strict nature. But honestly, when end starting to come you feel sadness

because of attachment you felt in your job.
