PHONE CALL

DISPATCHER
(professionally)
9-1-1, what's your emergency?

SHERYL
(panicked, possibly even
crying, voice is a
whisper)
I think my husband's been replaced
by a lizard person.
The dispatcher mutes their microphone and laughs to
themselves.
They take a deep breath in and unmute their mic.
DISPATCHER
(trying to be professional
while trying to stifle
their laughter)
Okay ma'am. Can you tell me what
happened?

SHERYL
(still panicking)
I don't know... When he came home
from work I could just tell
something was wrong with him.

She can be heard audibly moving around as she checks to see

if FAKE NICK is still outside the closet.
DISPATCHER
Yeah? How so?
SHERYL
(terrified, audibly
sobbing)
He's not human... He's not human!
Whatever that thing is, it's not my
Nick.
DISPATCHER
(realising she's serious)
Oh. Okay. What's your name, ma'am?
SHERYL
(sobbing)
Sheryl Abrams.
DISPATCHER
And could I get your address?
SHERYL
Uhm... [insert address here idk]

The dispatcher is heard clicking some buttons.

ELLIE
(scared)
Mommy? Is daddy mad at us?

SHERYL
(through tears)
Shh... I don't know baby. I don't
know.
DISPATCHER
Who's with you, ma'am? Is that your
kid?
AMY
(scared but trying to be
brave)
I'll keep a look out, mom.
SHERYL
(shakily)
My daughters are with me.

DISPATCHER
How old are they?
AMY
(terrified)
Mom?
Sheryl shushes Amy.
SHERYL
(trying to calm down)
One's three. The other's eight.
AMY
(panicking)
Elle? Where'd you put my iPod?
Amy finds the iPod and begins filming.
DISPATCHER
And where are you right now?
SHERYL
The closet-
The phone line begins to cut/glitch out.
FAKE NICK
(hissing, guttural voice)
Hhhhuuumaaaaaaan?
It bangs on the closet door without moving.

FAKE NICK
Hu-maaan.... Do not
hhhhhhiiiiiiiiide from me.

The phone line stops glitching as Sheryl starts crying again.

DISPATCHER
(professionalism drops)
What was that? You were cutting
out-
(hears Sheryl crying)
Are you okay, ma'am? The police are
on their way.

ELLIE
What's daddy doing now?

Amy sobs, dropping her iPod in fear.

DISPATCHER
(concerned but still
trying to be professional)
Whatever you do, ma'am, don't hang
up. Stay with me, okay?
SHERYL
(crying)
It's going to kill me...
DISPATCHER
We won't let him, I promise.
AMY
(whispering, very quietly
- almost to herself)
Why isn't he moving? Mommy, he's
not moving...
ELLIE
(scared but also curious)
Can I see? Can I see?
SHERYL
(whisper yelling, upset
but also protective)
Ellie, no!

Ellie ignores her.

ELLIE
(calling out through the
door, slightly scared)
Daddy? What are you doing-

Sheryl grabs Ellie, covering the girl's mouth with her hand.

SHERYL
Don't you dare talk to that thing!

ELLIE
But it's only daddy...

Sirens can be heard from outside the house.

The closet opens, Sheryl screams, and the call abruptly ends
after glitching out.

2. POLICE ARRIVE ON SCENE

BODYCAM FOOTAGE FROM POLICE #1

Police #2 pushes in the front door with a battering ram.

Police #1 (and other police officers) enter the house.

POLICE #1
(yelling)
Henderson Police! Come out with
your hands up!
The police officers search the house for Sheryl and Fake
Nick.

Movement can be heard coming from the main bedroom, alerting

Police #1, who immediately heads to the room.

Inside it, a "man" in business attire (Fake Nick) is

loitering in front of the open closet. Sheryl, Amy and Ellie
are seen cowering into the corner of the closet.
Fake Nick stops moving as it hears the officer enter the
room, its back is towards him.

POLICE #1
(apprehensively, slightly
unnerved, talking to Fake
Nick like its a wild
animal)
Hey, buddy.
Fake Nick doesn't move.

POLICE #1
I'm gonna need you to step away
from the closet, okay?

It silently takes one step back before ceasing its movement

once more, however Police #1 doesn't notice due to how still
it is.
POLICE #1
You hearin' me, mister? I said step
away from the closet.
Fake Nick growls.

Police #1 gets out his radio.

POLICE #1
(into radio, somewhat
nervous)
This is Officer Wallen requesting
back up.

POLICE #2 (VOICE OVER)

What room?

POLICE #1
Bedroom. Main one.

POLICE #2 (VOICE OVER)

On it.
Fake Nick's pose shifts.

POLICE #1
Can I, uh, can I get to the closet
please?
It doesn't respond.

POLICE #1
(to Sheryl)
Hey, ma'am. I'll get you guys outta
there once he's dealt with, okay?
SHERYL
(nervously)
Thank you, officer...

Police #2 and Police #3 enter the room.

POLICE #1
There's a woman and two kids in
there, I can't get 'em out 'cause
of him.

POLICE #3
You tried goin' 'round him?

POLICE #1
I don't wanna risk it. Seems
hostile.

Police #2 steps towards it.

POLICE #2
Sir! You need to move-

Police #2 falls to the floor.

POLICE #3
The hell?
POLICE #1
Shelton?

POLICE #3
Check his pulse.
Police #1 checks Police #2's pulse.
POLICE #1
Dead. You see what happened?
POLICE #3
Nuh uh. He just collapsed.
Police #1 approaches Fake Nick.
POLICE #1
(scared)
Excuse me, buddy-
It growls.
POLICE #1
Please don't hurt me, I'm just
asking you to let us through, okay?
Fake Nick turns towards him and nods. It then walks towards
the window.
The police then make their way to Sheryl and her children,
helping the three get out of the closet.
After the girls leave, Police #1 stays behind with Fake Nick.
POLICE #1
You like the window? It's a nice
view, huh?

Fake Nick doesn't answer him.

He pulls out a pair of handcuffs.
POLICE #1
Now, I'm gonna put these on you-
FAKE NICK
Those cannot hold me.
Police #1 becomes nervous.

POLICE #1
Okay. [pause] Well I need you to
come with me.
Fake Nick turns away from the window and stares at Police #1.

Police #1 takes an awkward step away from the creature, it

steps towards him almost like it's following the officer.
It stops and looks down at Police #2's body.

FAKE NICK
Bring him.

Police #1 gestures to the corpse.

POLICE #1
I was gonna call someone-

Fake Nick crouches down, inspecting the body.

FAKE NICK
There is no... Need.
It strokes Police #2's cheek and the dead man begins to stir.
Police #1 just stands there in stunned silence. As this
happens, the footage glitches.

The creature stays in that position for a good 5 seconds

before standing up again.

Fake Nick stares at the bodycam and realises it's being

filmed.

The footage ends abruptly just as the phone call did.

3. POLICE TALK TO EACH OTHER

4. AUDIO OF INTERROGATION

Two sets of footsteps can be heard as Police #4 and Fake Nick

enter the interrogation room.

FAKE NICK
What... Is this... Box?

POLICE #4
(ignoring it, acting
professional)
Sit down.
Fake Nick sits down in the chair.
