ABSTRACT

In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, the integration of educational

gadgets has become increasingly prevalent, reshaping traditional teaching and learning

paradigms. This study delves into the impact of utilizing educational gadgets on the academic

performance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) students at Manukan

National High School. Situated within a dynamic educational environment characterized by

technological advancements, the research aims to provide a nuanced understanding of how

educational gadgets influence academic outcomes among ICT students.

By employing a comprehensive research design that combines quantitative and

qualitative methodologies, the study investigates the complex interplay between gadget usage

and academic performance. Drawing upon theoretical frameworks such as Diffusion of

Innovations Theory, Technology Acceptance Model, and Social Cognitive Theory, the

research contextualizes the adoption and integration of educational gadgets within the

educational ecosystem, shedding light on the factors influencing student engagement and

achievement.

The findings of the study reveal a discernible positive correlation between the

frequency of educational gadget usage and academic success among ICT students. Despite

concerns regarding potential distractions, students generally perceive gadgets as beneficial

tools for enhancing productivity and alleviating stress. Statistical analyses uncover variations

in academic performance across demographic variables such as sex, age, and grade level,
underscoring the importance of tailored interventions to address disparities and promote

equity in gadget-enabled learning environments.

Moreover, the study elucidates the distribution of respondents based on age and grade

level, providing insights into the diverse representation within the sample. These

demographic insights offer valuable guidance for educators, administrators, policymakers,

and students themselves, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic interventions

aimed at optimizing gadget integration and fostering academic excellence in ICT education.

Based on the findings, the study proposes several recommendations to enhance the

integration of educational gadgets at Manukan National High School. Firstly, it advocates for

strategic support and professional development opportunities for educators to enhance their

proficiency in utilizing gadgets effectively within teaching methodologies. Secondly,

ensuring equitable access to gadgets for all ICT students is emphasized, with suggestions for

establishing technology lending programs or securing funding for gadget subsidies. Thirdly,

ongoing evaluation of gadget integration initiatives is proposed to assess their impact on

academic performance and student outcomes.

Additionally, the study highlights the importance of promoting responsible gadget use

through education on digital literacy and time management, empowering students to make

informed decisions about gadget usage. Lastly, fostering collaborative partnerships between

stakeholders is emphasized to address challenges, share best practices, and leverage resources

effectively in advancing technology-enhanced learning experiences for ICT students.

In conclusion, this study contributes to the growing body of literature on educational

technology by providing empirical evidence on the effects of utilizing educational gadgets on

academic performance among ICT students. By offering insights into the complex dynamics

of gadget integration and its implications for student learning, the research informs evidence-
based educational practices tailored to the specific needs and contexts of ICT students at

Manukan National High School.
