LEARNING RECOVERY
PLAN
PART I – BACKGROUND INFORMATION

A. Rationale of the Program/Activity

As the schools re-opened this school year 2022-

2023 in which learners go back to in-person classes after
years of distance learning, most of the learners
experienced COVID-related academic disruption, but not
every learner was affected in the same way. This
situation resulted to a significant challenge such as
learning gaps in literacy and numeracy skills as well, and
teachers are aware that some of the learners need extra
support.
In regards with the issued Memorandum No. 208
s.2022 by the Schools Division Office of Laguna as
spearheaded by SDS Marites A. Ibañez, CESO V, towards
an effective learning recovery for select learners at the
helm of continuous improvement, Abo-Bukal Elementary
School crafted its own Learning Recovery Plan.
Based on the data gathered from the assessment
done for literacy level and numeracy level of the learners
for all grade levels revealed the following analyzations.
In literacy level in English it shows that in the primary
level Grade 1 learners are mainly frustration readers
while Grades 2 and 3 learners are instructional readers.
In the Intermediate level, among the 87 learners from
grades 4-6, only 19 or 22% passed key stage 1
evaluation and the remaining 68 or 78% failed the
evaluation. In literacy level in Filipino from grades 3-6, 48
out of 118 learners or 41% passed and the remaining 70
learners or 59% failed in the key stage 1 assessment.
In numeracy level, the EGMA result shows that in
Primary level only 11 % of the enrolment reached the
Advance Numerate, 13% Highly Numerate, 21%
Numerate, 22% Low Numerate and 33% belong to Non-
Numerate. Moreover, the NIT2L result shows that in

Intermediate Level it has low proficiency level since no

one among 87 learners or 0% of the enrolment belongs
to Advance Numerate and Highly Numerate, only 9%
reached Numerate, 30% Low Numerate and 61% Non-
Numerate.
Findings shows that urgent actions have to be
done to at least minimize if cannot be solved 100%.
Intensive interventions and remedial classes in every
grade level from grade 1 to 6 every day at 3:30 pm from
Monday to Friday are implemented. Certain programs
and projects such as Project READ or Read Everyday And
Discover, Project BUS and Project REACH to develop
reading skills and Project CASE or Count, Analyze and
Solve Everyday to get well on numeracy skills of the
learners.
As a result of analysis, it is recommended that
learning losses and learning gaps in reading and
numeracy must be given utmost attention in key stage 1
where core objectives, framework and strategic
approach are essentially made to bridge the losses and
gaps for further development of learners.

B. Objectives of the Activity:

100% participation of teachers and School Heads in LRP Activities.

PART II – HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ACTIVITY

A. Preliminary Activities

Provide the learners with clear and understandable learning

targets for recovery.
2.Use examples and models of strong and weak work.

3. Teach learners to self-assess and set goals.

4. Design lessons to focus on one learning target on the aspect of

quality at a time through remediation, intervention, and
advancement in reading across learning areas and numeracy for
integration to bridge the learning gaps and learning losses.

5. Offer regular feedback for coaching and mentoring.

B. Key Learning (per module/session)

The TUNE-UP phase is the profiling and accelerating learners’

numeracy level on Basic Mathematical Skills, specifically, handling
whole numbers, rational numbers, decimal numbers and integers with
basic mathematical skills such as Reading and Writing, Comparing and
Ordering, Performing Operations, Solving Word Problems and Analyzing
Patterns, Graphs and Data.
The CATCH-UP phase is identifying learning gaps from the last two
years competencies and conducting remediations to address least
mastered competencies to bridge the gaps.
