Polynomials PPT

The document provides an overview of polynomials, including definitions, types based on the number of terms (monomial, binomial, trinomial, polynomial) and degree (linear, quadratic, cubic). It discusses the graphical representation of linear and quadratic polynomials, the geometrical meaning of their zeroes, and the relationship between the zeroes and coefficients of quadratic polynomials. The content is presented by Saanvi Tayal from Queen’s Convent School, Rohini.

an expression of more than two algebraic terms,
especially the sum of several terms that contain different
powers of the same variable(s).

Geometrical meaning of zeroes
Geometrical meaning of zeroes of
a polynomial: The zeroes of a
polynomial p(x) are precisely the
x-coordinates of the points where
the graph of y = p(x) intersects the
x-axis.
Relationship of zeroes and coefficients
If α and β are the zeroes of a
quadratic polynomial ax2 +
bx + c, then
• α + β = - b /a
• αβ =c /a = .
