provide safe and quality care, ensuring positive patient outcomes. EBP also ensures that the care
nurses provide is supported by current research and the best practices in the field. EBP ensures
that RNs make informed decisions concerning the care they provide to their patient, which helps
avoid errors that could cause harm (Camargo et al., 2018). It also allows RNs to handle complex
situations that regular standard practices cannot sufficiently manage. Thus, RNs must strive to
integrate EBP into their practice and promote its application at their workplace.
educational events allows the RN to stay up to date with the current research and practices,
which allows one to integrate these latest practices and research into the care they deliver.
Another way is by sharing the knowledge acquired from attending professional development
workshops and events with others, which can help promote evidence-based practice in the
workplace (Mathieson et al., 2019). Sharing the knowledge will ensure that others understand the
importance of EBP in delivering safe and quality care and, hence, strive to continue applying it
in their practice.
Integrating and promoting evidence into practice at the workplace can be challenging
because of various obstacles. Barriers that nurses face in trying to incorporate evidence into their
practice include issues such as the lack of sufficient time and resources to facilitate the process
and resistance to proposed change at the workplace (Camargo et al., 2018). Overcoming the
obstacle of insufficient time and resources requires advocating for the provision of enough

resources from the management to support the staff in learning how to integrate evidence into
their practice. Addressing the obstacle of resistance to change among the staff will involve
engaging them in discussion. Discussing the benefits they can achieve by integrating evidence
into their practice, not only in their performance but also in the health outcomes of their patients.
