TOTAL MARKS: 45

There are 5 questions.

ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

Question 1 (5 marks):
Consider a BPMN process model described textually as follows: <Start-Event, Task1, Task2, Task3,
End-Event> (i.e., the start event is immediately followed by Task1, which is immediately followed
by Task2, which is immediately followed by Task3, which is immediately followed by the end event).
The immediate effects (context-independent post-conditions) of the tasks are as follows:
• Task1: a
• Task2: b
• Task3: c

There is a background knowledge base consisting of the following rule: ¬(a∧b∧c)

Show all possible normative execution traces that can be generated from this semantically
annotated process model.

Question 2 (10 marks):

Consider the following task sequences contained in the execution log (process log) for a given
process. What is the process model (described first as a workflow net, and then as a BPMN model)
that would be mined from this dataset using the Alpha algorithm (α-algorithm)? Show the steps
involved.

being welcomed to the restaurant and ending in the guests settling their bill and departing from the
restaurant. The process model should include at least one XOR gateway and at least one AND-
gateway.

Annotate this model with effects using the ProcessSEER framework.
