Definition:

This indicator provides a system of identifying areas that may require intervention
and areas of family strengths that may be used to help the family deal with health needs
and problems.

Family Coping Index is measured with the following scores:

1 – No competence 3 – Moderately competence 5 – Complete competence

Based on the results of the calculations, Obesity/Overweight is the health problem


that should be the top priority of concern in our family. Cigarette smoking and drinking
alcohol are both second in rank; hypercholesterolemia and hypertension are both third in
rank; self-medication, asthma, and the presence of breeding sites for mosquitoes in
stagnant water are all fourth in rank; stress is 5th in rank; and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
(PCOS) is the last in rank.
