Introduction
The safe delivery of equipment, plant, material resources, waste and people including other
road users and pedestrians is the overriding priority in all vehicle movements.
Works will be achieved ensuring minimal disruption and impact to stakeholders and the
public at large. This includes safe management of access and egress in and around all of
the Scheme’s worksites.
Legislation and Guidance – any relevant legislation and guidance taken into account for the
Scheme’s procedures will be listed.
Logistics Team Roles and Interfaces – the role, contact name and the interfaces of each
member of the Logistics Management Team will be outlined.
Equipment, Plant and Material Resources – a methodology to identify, order and book
deliveries will be outlined. This will also include a site specific driver’s briefing that will be
sent to the supplier explaining the approved routes, vehicle holding areas and
contact numbers prior to delivery. Quantities and types of material resources to be used
throughout the duration of the Scheme will be estimated.
Waste– waste will be treated and managed in accordance with the Site Waste Management
Plan ("SWMP") and the Materials Management Plan ("MMP"). The Outline SWMP and
Outline MMP have been included in Appendices B and C respectively.
Traffic Management – a site specific Traffic Management risk assessment will be undertaken
of each access and egress route for each site. Logistics movements will be coordinated,
planned and recorded in accordance with the Scheme’s requirements. The booking
procedure will be outlined.
Communication
Communication is a major part of the success of any project and communication of the
Logistics Plan is paramount to its implementation. A communication strategy, including
meetings and training and toolbox talk plan, will be formulated.
Excavated Material
The methodology for removing excavated material from the Scheme will be outlined.
Excavated Material will be identified, categorized and moved as outlined and in accordance
with the SWMP and MMP.
Sustainable Transport
The transportation of materials will be carried out in line with the Transport Assessment
Report. The effort made in order to explore all possible avenues in selecting the best options
will be demonstrated.
Consolidation
Where possible, no part loads will be allowed to be delivered to the Scheme. Haulers will be
encouraged to ensure that delivery vehicles are loaded to capacity. The need to consolidate
is not anticipated but will be stipulated in the Logistics Plan and implemented where
practicable.
Vehicle Control
The specifications of worksite access/egress points and the capacity of the worksite to
receive vehicle movements, lorry movements and routes will be developed and outlined.
Vehicle safety equipment check sheets, vehicle safety checks monthly report and example
vehicle safety signage will be included.
Vehicle Security
Site and lorries holding area security will be outlined.
Review Schedule
The Logistics Plan will be reviewed and updated quarterly by the Logistics Manager or
