History of Computers
History of Computers
1. What is a Computer?
A computer is a machine that can store and
process information. It can do many tasks, like
calculations, writing, drawing, and even
playing games!
2. Early Tools Used by Humans:
Before computers, people used simple tools to
solve problems:
o Abacus: A counting tool used thousands of
years ago.
o It was made in china 500 years ago
o Paper and Pencil: People wrote things down
and solved math problems by hand.
3. The First Computers:
Early computers were huge machines and
could only do one task at a time, like
calculations.
Charles Babbage is known as the “Father of
the Computer.”
He was a professor from England
He created a machine called the Analytical
Engine in the 1833. It was a big step toward
making modern computers.
4. The first electro-mechanical was created in
1939.
It was created by Konrad Zuse
5. First Electronic Computers:
In the 1940s, the first electronic computers
were built. These computers used electricity to
work, unlike older ones that used gears and
mechanical parts.
One of the first was called the ENIAC
(Electronic Numerical Integrator and
Computer), built in 1945.
5. Computers Get Smaller:
Early computers were very big and took up
entire rooms!
In the 1950s and 1960s, computers started
getting smaller and more powerful.
Transistors (tiny electronic parts) replaced big
vacuum tubes, making computers smaller and
faster.
7. The Internet:
In the 1990s, people began connecting
computers together to share information. This
led to the creation of the Internet.
The World Wide Web (WWW) made it easy
to find information, send emails, and play
games online!
8. Today’s Computers:
Today, computers are in almost everything!
From smartphones and tablets to smart TVs
and cars.
Computers are much faster, smaller, and
more powerful than ever before.
9. Fun Facts:
The first computer mouse was invented by
Douglas Engelbart in 1964.
The first computer game was created in the
1950s and was called Tennis for Two.
The first website on the Internet was created
by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991.
