Chapter 3: Creating a text animation in Photoshop

Text animation: it is the action of flashing a word or text. It is also a responsive and engaging way to bring
your designs to life and capture your audience’s attention by dynamically expressing your messages and
making them more memorable.

1. Procedure to follow for creating a text animation in Photoshop

• Open the Photoshop application

• go to the new tab to create a new page

• Resize so that the width is greater than the height, put in centimeters and make sure the resolution is
300

2. Realization itself

To create a text animation, you can have several methods and use different tools.

The main tools we use are:

• The text tool. Write your word, count the number of letters in your word, duplicate the layer the
number of letters in your word minus one (if the word has 5 letters, we duplicate 4 layers).

Example: let’s write the word HAPPY. Go to the work surface, erase the last four letters, and leave only
the letter H. So layer 1 has the H, layer 2 the HA, layer 3 HAP, layer 4 HAPP, layer 5 HAPPY.

N.B. turn off the eye of the processed layer as you progress. Only the eye of the last layer should be lit

• In the window tab click on montage. With the editing parameters open, take text animation, click on
the option create images from layers, click on new layers visible in all images. And text animation is in
action.
