Course Code : CS4217


Course Title : Network Security Lab
Credit : 0-0-4
Batch : M. Tech (ISSE) II Semester

LABORATORY OUTCOMES:

i) To demonstrate the fundamentals of network security algorithms and tools.

ii) To learn various network security tools to achieve security goals and implement them.

iii) To demonstrate the use network security tools for various purpose such as packet
sniffing, vulnerability testing, and theat analysis etc.

iv) To use secure shell (SSH) for various security protocols.

v) To implement various network level authentication protocols.

Statement of Purpose for the Laboratory

1. Student should come to each laboratory classes prepared with the laboratory assignment
and laboratory record

2. Read and understand all the lab assignment questions provided in the manual before
attemping to solve it.

3. Report to concern laboratory assistant or faculty member once you are completed with the
assignments.

6. The record must have the index page thoroughly maintained for each assignment given.

7. Do not operate mobile phones in the lab. Keep mobile phones either in silent or switched
off mode.

8. Do not change system settings.

9 Maintain silence in side the laboratory.

10. Do not perform any hardware related tasks without permission of the laboratory
assistants.

11. Students are free to choose their OS to implement the assignments. However, some of
the tools are required to be install in linux environment only.

b) Verify the issues certificates by certificates authority.

7 Use of OpenSSL for implementing SSL/TSL session.

8 Implementation of PGP protocol

9 Use of web penetrating testing tool Uniscan and Nikto.

10 Use of Snort tool for intrusion monitoring.
