DISCUSSION :
The A - 8 6 8 A S - 0 p i t c h change rods are now b e i n g
machined with a n i n c r e a s e d r a d i u s in t h e r e t e n t i o n
groove at t h e base o f t h e rod as shown. Due to
this increased radius the o l d d e s i g n A - 8 6 7 s p l i t
ring k e e p e r s may no l o n g e r be used because of the
possibility of setting up high stresses i n the rod
which may l e a d to failure.
REQUIRED ACTION:

E f f e c t i v e the date of t h i s advisory, all A-867


split ring k e e p e r s of t h e old design must be
discarded. (See i l l u s t r a t i o n ) . Only keepers with
t h e 4 5 degree chamfer, .030" d e e p , machined on t h e
edges of the inside diameter, are to be u s e d .
