SECTION 11: TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

SECTION 12: ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
12.1. Toxicity Not applicable.
SECTION 13: DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
General information
When KPA1 Ultra pedestal adhesive is fully cured the isocyanate is no longer present (it becomes a polyurethane), the adhesive is inert and
contains no hazards. The container and residual cured adhesive are not classified as hazardous waste. As detailed on pages A45 and A46 in the
Waste Classification Technical Guidance (WM3) document; The tin and any remaining ‘cured’ residue falls under the scope of waste packaging with
the classification of ‘15-01-04 Metallic packaging’.
13.1. Waste treatment methods
When a tin of KPA1 Ultra pedestal adhesive has been emptied of as much adhesive as is practicably possible, it should be left without the lid on, in
a safe well ventilated area overnight. This will allow the residual adhesive to cure (set). Once the adhesive has cured (i.e. gone solid) it is inert and
does not present the hazards detailed on the label or in the [GHS] Safety Data Sheet. Consequently the label is no longer valid and should be
obscured with permanent ink, high tack blanking labels or tape. Doing this is perfectly legitimate because the tin and its contents are now not
hazardous; this also reduces the possibility of confusion for the waste operator charged with the responsibility for processing the waste tins. . It may
be advantageous to print a statement such as “neutralised” on the label to emphasise the inert nature of the cured adhesive. The waste tins can
now be disposed of as building waste; indeed some waste processors may be able to recycle the tin plate if they have access to such a facility as
part of their operation.
