a) In a Geometric progression (G.P) the first term is 24 and fifth term is 8.Find the ninth term of the GP.

b) The adjoining figure represents a solid consisting of a right circular cylinder with a hemisphere at one
end and a cone at the other. Their common radius is 7 cm. The height of the cylinder and the cone are
each of 4 cm. Find the volume of the solid.

c) Use graph sheet for this question. Take 2 cm = 1 unit along the axes.

i)Plot the points 𝐴 (0,3), 𝐵 (2,3), 𝐶 (3,0).

ii) Reflect A and B in the x-axis and name them as E and D respectively.

iii)Reflect B and C in the y-axis and name them as H and G respectively.

iv)Reflect B in the origin and name it as F.

v)Join A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and A and make it a closed figure.

Question 4 (3+3+4)

a) A man invest Rs.22500 in Rs.50 shares available at 10% discount. If the dividend paid by the company
is 12%. Calculate

i) the number of shares purchased.

ii) the annual dividend received.

iii) the rate of return he gets on his investment, give your answer correct to the nearest whole number.

b) Solve the linear inequation and write the solution set. Also represent the solution set on the number
line.

a) In the given figure PQRS is a cyclic quadrilateral PQ and SR produced meet at T.

(i) Prove ΔTPS~ΔTRQ.

ii) Find SP if TP = 18 cm, RQ = 4 cm and TR = 6 cm.

(iii) Find area of quadrilateral PQRS if area of ΔPTS = 27 cm2.

b) Mr. James has a recurring deposit account in a bank. He deposits ₹2500 per month for 2 years. If he
gets ₹66250 at the time of maturity, find the i) interest paid by the bank ii) the rate of interest.

c) Using step deviation method find the mean for the following distribution.

a) Given a line segment AB joining the points 𝐴 (−4, 6) and 𝐵 (8, −3)

i) Find the ratio in which AB is divided by y-axis.

ii) Find the coordinates of the point of intersection.


b) In the figure, ABC and CEF are two triangles where BA is parallel to CE and AF:AC = 5:8.

i)Prove that Δ𝐴𝐷𝐹 ~ Δ𝐶𝐸𝐹

ii)Find AD if CE = 6 cm.

iii)If DF is parallel to BC, find area of ΔADF:area of ΔABC

c) Mrs. Mehra visits the market and buys the following items:

b) The table shows the distribution of the scores obtained by 160 shooters in a shooting competition.
Use a graph sheet and draw an ogive for the distribution. (Take 2 cm = 10 scores on the X-axis and 2 cm
= 20 shooters on the Y-axis).

a) Solve the quadratic equation for x and give your answer correct to 2 decimal places:

b) The 5th term and the 9th term of an Arithmetic Progression are 4 and –12 respectively. Find:

(a) the first term (b) common difference (c) sum of 16 terms of the AP.

c) Draw a histogram for the following frequency distribution and find the mode from the graph. Take 2
cm = 5 units on x-axis and 1 cm = 2 units on y-axis.

a) A bus covers a distance of 240 km at a uniform speed. Due to heavy rain its speed gets reduced by 10
km/h and as such it takes two hours longer to cover the total distance. Assuming the uniform speed to
be ‘x’ km/h, form an equation and solve it to evaluate ‘x’.

b) If 𝑋 = [ ], show that 6𝑋 − 𝑋2 = 9𝐼, where 𝐼 is the unit matrix of order 2.

c) Use ruler and compasses only for the following questions. All constructions lines and arcs must be
clearly shown.

(i) Construct a ΔABC in which BC = 6.5 cm, ∠ABC = 60o, AB = 5 cm.

(ii)Construct the locus of points at a distance of 3.5 cm from A.

(iii) Construct the locus of points equidistant from AC and BC.

(iv) Mark 2 points X and Y which are a distance of 3.5 cm from A and also equidistant from AC and BC.
