1. Scope of Works:

This Method Statement describes a proper work procedure to be carried out during the Raft
Concreting at Basement-1 and Basement-2 as per specification and contract drawings.

2.Documentation:

4.Supervision:

The Manager with overall responsibility for the work is: Construction Manager

The Site Supervisor with immediate responsibility for the work is: General Foreman

5.Safety Arrangements:

Safe Work practices Best operating practices shall be used to assure the safety and integrity

 All activities shall be planned, supervised and carried out in a safe manner under the
control of a competent person, who knows the responsibilities.
 Equipment operation and Transportation shall be carried out in safe manner
controlled by competent banks man/flagman as per standard regulations.
METHOD STATEMENT FOR RAFT CONCRETE
 All vehicle within site parameter shall be controlled by competent
banks man /flagman to ensure the speed is within the specified limit.
 Working area shall be maintained good housekeeping and proper
access.
 All safety precautions are mentioned in the Risk Assessment attached

6.Plant:

 Vibrator with needle


 Mobile pump for concreting
 Power float
 Crane

7.Lifting Equipment:

 Tower Crane
 Mobile Crane

8.Working at Height:

 Fall Protection Net shall be installed at the edge zones .


 Where work is going on at height. Hand railing will be provided.
 Standard approved horizontal life line shall be installed (where required).

9.Personal Protective Equipment:


The contractor shall provide all personal protective equipments as required for different
operations. All PPEs to be used should be in good condition.

10.Training:

All Plant operators to be trained and third party certified.

11.Access/ Egress:

Secured and safe access to all work location within the site will be made and maintained.
The access and egress will always be free from any blockage or obstruction and entry and
escape routes will be clearly marked with signboards.

12.Housekeeping:

Routine housekeeping will be done all over the work location and the waste will be
segregated and dumped at a designated waste storage yard and will be disposed out from
site on regularly.

13.Communication:

The Approved method statement and risk assessment will be communicated and discussed
with all concerned engineers ,supervisors ,plant operators and workers. Emergency contact
nos. will be displayed at different locations all over the site and the same will be
communicated to all personnel at site through induction and Tool Box Talk.

14. Welfare Facilities:

Rest area with sufficient space will be provided and maintained at site for worker along with
drinking water, urinals, dinning are and food storage.

15.Permits to Work:

Work Permits for Raft Concreting will be obtained before commencing the work.

16. Additional Special Safety precautions:

 All plant and machineries shall be third party certified with valid RTA registration
cards.
 Operators shall be fully competent certified.

17. Materials:

Not Applicable.

18.Description:

 To ensure the curing & cleaning has to be done over protection screed before
preceding the raft work.
 The level & setting out of Raft/Pile Caps, columns, lift walls, Sum Pit and its co-
ordinate points shall be marked on the protection screed to be marked by
surveyor.
 The Reinforcement work to commenced as per the approved shop drawings.
Proper cover (70 mm) is to be kept all around the Raft foundation.(Bottom =
70mm , Sides = 70mm, Top = 70mm)
 Column & wall steel is to be placed as per the coordinates are given by surveyor.
The starter bar length for column and walls is to be as per the approved shop
drawings.
METHOD STATEMENT FOR RAFT CONCRETE
 Shuttering is to be done for Raft/ Pile Caps, Sum pits trenches etc as per the
coordinates given by Surveyor and proper supports (steel props & timber battens)
are to be provided for shuttering.
 Overhanging shuttering is to be done for low level areas and proper supports to
be provided for shuttering.
 Inspection request to be forwarded after the footing/Raft top marked on column
reinforcement, the footing are cleaned of debris and all MEP services are in
position.
 Additional supports are to be made around column reinforcement to keep it in
position while concreting.
 Required quantity of concrete to be calculated ensuring minimum wastage, and
order should be placed.
 Attend all the comments made by Consultant at the time of inspections and once
get approval proceed with concreting & also take the necessary approval from
Dubai municipality.
 The concrete will be placed at respective locations using mobile pump. Suitable
location for the mobile pump to be finalized for efficient placement of concrete,
avoiding wastage.
 A concrete check point to be made for checking approved grade, slump and
temperature of concrete as per approved mix design / specification.
 Check for quick and efficient placement of concrete and to finish concrete within
2 hours after the time of loading. Concreting will be done in layers for better
compaction.
 Construction joints horizontal and vertical to be marked on protection screed &
water bar to be fixing in position properly.
 Additional steel to be place in construction joint as per approved shop drawings.
 Concrete will be start with lower level portion to higher level portions.
 Concrete shall be filled in layers providing adequate vibrations using mechanical
vibrators.
 Proper vibrator is to be used continuously until expulsion of air has ceased and
should not promote for segregation of ingredients. Stand by vibrator to be
available.
 After initial setting of concrete surface to be finished to required finishing.

 De-shuttering is to be done after 24 hours and check for concrete surfaces. No
repair works is to be carried out unless the Consultant has inspected. Submit the
method statement and material for repairing if noticed.
 Curing is to be done for a 7 days by wet hessian cloth.

19.Completion of Works:

After the completion of work, inspection will be carried out with Consultant Engineer. Upon
the approval and commencing of next activity, the area should be properly cleaned and all
the re-usable material will be properly stacked and handed over to store.

20. Emergency Arrangement:

Updated Emergency contact numbers will be posted at different location within the
construction premises, male nurse and first aider will be available full time at the designated
First Aid room.
Emergency procedure will be briefed to all workers and supervisors through Tool box talk.
