General Instructions:
Section – A
II. Find the equivalent resistance across the two ends A and B of the above circuits.
35. a. Conduct an experiment to show that Co2 is necessary for the process of photosynthesis to happen.
[Diagram is must and should]
b. Name the parts (a) to (e) in the following diagram.
36. A remarkable property of acids is that they can 'dissolve' metals. When metals are added to an acid, they
disintegrate and disappear into the acid.
a. State one other common observation when metals 'dissolve' in acids. Explain the reason for this
observation.
b. If the acid with the 'dissolved' metal is evaporated, can we get the metal back? Why or why not?
c. In this question, the word 'dissolve' is used within quotes. This is because it is not actually an example
of dissolving. What is the MAIN difference between a metal 'dissolving' in an acid and sugar
dissolving in water?
[OR]
Identify the type of chemical reaction in the following statements and explain each of them with help of
balanced chemical equation.
a. Digestion of food in our body.
b. Rusting of iron.
c. Heating of manganese dioxide with aluminum powder.
d. Blue colour of copper sulphate solution disappears when iron filings are added to it.
e. Dilute hydrochloric acid is added to sodium hydroxide solution to form sodium chloride and water.
Section – E
37. Go through the following tables thoroughly and answer the questions that follow.
Table A (Blood Glucose Chart)
Table B (Blood Report of Patient X and Y)
Time of check Blood Glucose ranges
[mg/dL]
Patient X Patient Y
Before breakfast <100 70 - 130
(Fasting)
Before lunch, supper <110 70 - 130
and snack
Two hours after meals <140 <180
Bedtime <120 90 - 15
i. Refer to Table B showing the blood report of the levels of glucose of patient X and Y.
Infer the disease which can be diagnosed from the given data.
a. Diabetes b. Goitre c. Marasmus d. Acromegaly
ii. Identify the hormone whose level in the blood is responsible for the above disease.
a. Insulin b. Glucagon c. Thyroxine d. Adrenaline
iii. Which of the following diets would you recommend to the affected patient?
a. High sugar and low-fat diet
b. Low sugar and high protein diet
c. High fat and low fibre diet
d. Low sugar and high fibre diet
iv. Refer to the Table A & suggest the value of mean blood glucose level beyond which doctor’s advice is
necessary:
a. 180 mg/dL b. 115mg/dL c. 50mg/dL d. 80 mg/dL
38. The Teacher while conducting practical’s in the laboratory divided the students into three groups and
gave them various solutions to find out their pH and classify them into acidic, basic and neutral
solutions.
Group A - Lemon juice, vinegar, colourless aerated drink
Group B - Tomato juice, coffee, ginger juice
Group C – Sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, lime water
a. For the solutions provided, which group is/are likely to have pH value(i) less than 7, and (ii) greater
than 7?
b. List two ways of determining pH of solution.
c. sour substances as lemon juice are effective in cleaning the tarnished copper vessels. Explain.
[OR]
"pH has great importance in our daily life”. Justify this statement by giving two examples.
39. with the help of mirrors, we can form a variety of images. for example, in plane mirrors, images are the
same size as the object and are located behind the mirror. Dental mirrors may produce magnified image
while security mirrors in shops, on other hand, forms images that are smaller than the object. These
images can be either real or virtual depending upon the position of object. The real image can be
obtained on screen only when the reflected rays meet actually. Virtual image does not form on screen
because after reflection, the reflected rays actually appear to meet.
i. Name the mirror that can give an erect and enlarged image of the object.
ii. an object is placed at a distance of 10cm 20 cm 30 cm and 40 cm respectively from a concave
mirror of focal length 15cm. Which position of the object will produce virtual image. Justify your
answer with help of a ray diagram.
iii. what does negative sign in the value of magnification produced by a mirror indicate about an
image?
[OR]
What are the advantages of using a convex mirror for seeing traffic at the rear?
