Weekly Assignment-2-G5
Weekly Assignment-2-G5
For one week every summer, Lourdes went to her Aunt Clarissa’s house on Silver
Lake. Every morning when she awoke, Lourdes would walk out the back door
onto Aunt Clarissa’s small sandy beach. She and her aunt spent every day
swimming, catching frogs, and playing in the sand.
This year, the week seemed to pass very quickly. Before Lourdes knew it, her last
day had arrived. That morning, Aunt Clarissa challenged Lourdes to a swimming
race all the way out to the floating dock and back. Lourdes sighed and said she
would prefer to sit in her chair and watch the ducks. Her aunt offered to take
her fishing, and again Lourdes said she was not interested.
“You know, Lourdes,” said Aunt Clarissa, “I think we should do something extra
special today. How about going for a boat ride to the other end of the lake?
We could take a picnic lunch!” Lourdes couldn’t contain her excitement about
her aunt’s plan. Soon they had packed their lunch and had loaded it in the
boat.
“I think I am the luckiest person,” Lourdes said to her aunt as they sped through
the sparkling water. Lourdes closed her eyes and felt the warm sun on her face
and the cool wind in her hair. She knew that she would be able to recall the
vivid memories of this week whenever she wanted. “Aunt Clarissa,” she said,
“we should do something extra special on the last day of my summer visit next
year, too.”
