14. Please specify the difference between Centralised and Decentralised system in EWM.
Ans: SAP ECC and EWM combined or embedded in one server is centralised EWM
system.
SAP ECC and EWM in separate server is called decentralised system.

15. Please specify advantages of decentralised over centralised.

Both deployment options allow users to add new functionality over time and utilize
SAP transactional data, document types and master data. However, there are several
differences between them:

• Scalability: Embedded EWM connects to one SAP ERP or SAP S/HANA system.
Decentralized EWM can integrate with multiple SAP ERP systems at a single or
multiple locations. Warehouses may also use a decentralized deployment model
during a transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA until all custom legacy
applications are modernized and transitioned.
• Integration: Technically, embedded EWM allows for easier integrations with
production planning and S/4HANA and a simplified system footprint. However,
integration with warehouse automation systems is a driver of decentralized EWM.
• Simplicity: With embedded EWM, partner data, material master data, and batch
master data don’t have to be replicated because they exist in SAP S/4HANA. It also
eliminates the Expected Goods Receipt (EGR) document because SAP S/4HANA can
read that data directly.
• Agility: Decentralized EWM gives more flexibility to upgrade and add functionality
independently from SAP’s roadmap.
• Uptime: If a warehouse operates around the clock, 365 days per year, and has a high-
volume operation on the order of hundreds of thousands of units per day,
decentralized EWM is likely the better choice. It can keep the warehouse running even
if the ERP system is down.

16. Please specify advantages of centralised over decentralised.

be stored in different storage type, at that time those materials are taken for
deconsolidation work centre 8010 where single HU will be broken into two or more
HU and moved to its destination storage type.

6. What is LOSC? Ex. Lift or conveyor belt.

In case of LOSC, the HU should go through intermediate st. type before it reaches the
dest. St. type.

Ex.: Lift

HU will move from 9010 to intermediate St. Type for an example 0081 i.e., nothing
but lift. The HU will reach the other end of lift of St. Type 0081 then putaway will be
done by 0081(Lift) to destination St. Type.

7. What are the pre-requisites for POSC?

HU is mandatory, Packaging material, Work centre.

Outbound side – Storage process will be assigned to WOCR. Basically, this WOCR is
assigned to WPT and that will be triggered to stock removal where storage type is
assigned.

10. What is Deconsolidation?

If Suppliers send two or more product in a single HU but that product has allocated
for different storage type and here the deconsolidation function can be used for
dividing the HU into different handling unit for each product based on their storage
behaviour and moved for its destination storage type and storage bin.
