WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT (8)

REVISION PACK

Comprehension Passage:
Focus Skill: Main Idea and supporting details:
Love Those Lakes

During each season, there is a different reason to visit a lake. In an area with
frigid winters, lakes usually freeze for part of the winter. Once they freeze thick
enough to guarantee safety, they are fantastic for ice- skating, boot-sliding, or
even ice fishing. After the ice thaws in the spring, a lake is an ideal place to
catch tadpoles, or baby frogs. In the warm summer months, lakes are good
places to go swimming to cool off. It is too cold to swim in most lakes in autumn,
but lakes are still good spots for boating or fishing.

How to Care for Kittens

A mother cat has instincts about how to raise her kittens, but there are still a few
ways that you can help her care for her young. First, you can help keep her
kittens warm and comfortable by creating a bed lined with blankets or towels.
Second, you can help the mother cat feel safe by keeping other animals away
from her kittens. Finally, you can help teach the kittens how to behave around
