solutions provider to the edible oils and fats industry. Our company is certified to the strict
requirements of HACCP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 OHSAS 18001 and others. We produce
customised premium quality products to meet customers’ requirements in the business-to-
business segments.

Our premier quality products are widely used in food industries globally, with applications in
dairy products manufacturing, food preparation, as well as natural and healthy colourant for food
ingredients. The main brands marketed under our company are Golden Joma™, Joma™,
SAFaR™ and D’FaR™.

Sime Darby Jomalina Sdn. Bhd. Produces a wide range of high quality traceable refined palm oil
and palm kernel oil products which include industrial shortening, margarine, frying palm oil ,
dairy fat replacer, animal fat replacer, dough fat, vegetable ghee and cooking oil.

Our products are exported to Far East, South East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the
United States of America. Locally we are well position in the Malaysian market.

Sime Darby Jomalina Sdn. Bhd. Also manufactures tailor-made products to meet consumer’s
specific requirements as well. We are being supported by highly trainer and dedicated
Innovation Centre Asia under Sime Darby Research Sdn Bhd which has well over 200
technocrats, scientist and technicians. They work very closely with our sales and operations team
to serve customers better in providing solutions that meet and extend customers’ need.

These specialities produced from our very own Premium Quality (PQ) Crude Palm Oil includes:

 Special Animal Fat Replacer (SAFaR™) - a vegetable fats to replace animal fats in
 frozen food products.
 Jomalina Guaranteed Quality (JGQ™) products - products made from Premium
Quality CPO.
 Golden Joma™ Red Palm SuperOlein - red palm oil with very high beta carotene
content.
 Customised oil products with specific parameters for frying, application in dairy
products, colourants and as healthy food ingredient.

The History of Jomalina

Jomalina was promoted by some members of the Royal family of the state of Pahang (the largest
state in Peninsular Malaysia) to seek worthwhile utilization of the estates left by their father – the
late Sultan. They had no experience in the field but their courage and perseverance provided the
foundation for the birth of a Company to refine and process palm oil – Jomalina Sdn Bhd, the
first privately owned Bumiputra venture in palm oil refining and processing in Malaysia.

The Company was incorporated on 23rd November 1974 and in June 1975 filed its application
with the Ministry of Trade and Industry for the establishment of a palm oil processing and
refining project. Official approval was obtained on 25th September 1975 and the choice was
made for the project to be located on a five acre industrial site nine miles from Port Klang.

The site fronted the main highway and all necessary infrastructure was already available. The
first ground was broken in August 1976. By February 1977 the company had commissioned its
Westfalia Continuous Alkaline Neutralisation plant enabling it to offer the market Neutralised
Palm Oil on a commercial scale, a matter of six month from the ground breaking.
In July 1977, the plants for Bleaching and Physical refining were commissioned enabling
Jomalina to meet the requirements of the market for semi finished and fully refined palm oil
products. When the Fractionation plant was commissioned in August 1977, the Company’s
refining and processing range was complete.

Jomalina secures the bulk of its crude palm oil requirement from major reputable producers
namely Harrisons & Crosfield, Guthries, Barlow Boustead, Socfin, Sime Darby and Felda on
long term arrangements. The close proximity to crude palm oil mills and supplier’s bulk storage
installations at the Port assures the Company of the continuous availability of consistently high
quality fresh crude palm oil.

Jomalina exports its processed palm oil products through the bulking installations of Harrisons &
Crossfield and Barlow Bulking at Port Klang. Jointly both facilities provide the Company with
12,000 tons of storage space made up storage tanks which has epoxy coated. Transportation of
processed palm oil products from the refinery to the bulking installations is exclusively
undertaken by the Jomalina’s own fleet of lorry tankers. Just as the storage facilities at the Port
all lorry tankers deployed for the processed oil are epoxy coated.

In 1975, Jomalina Sdn Bhd was wholly owned by Harrisons Malaysian Plantations Berhad
(HMPB), the largest plantations company in Malaysia. As a subsidiary of Harrisons Malaysian
Plantations Berhad (HMPB), Jomalina benefits by way of invaluable technical advice and
continuous supply of high quality crude palm oil which HMPB is reputed to produce for its
processing requirement. In 1990, HMPB changed its name to Golden Hope Plantations Berhad.

On 14th September 1998, Jomalina Sdn Bhd changes its name to the name Golden Jomalina
Food Industries Sdn Bhd. This in-line with the on-going Jomalina Modernization Project at that
time which rearrange the infrastructure and includes semi-continues plant and texturation plant to
serve better and is compliance to the food industries.

In late November 2006, Synergy Drive Sdn Berhad, a special purpose entity with financing from
CIMB Investment Bank Berhad, offered to acquire Golden Hope and seven others Public
Limited Company’s "to create the world's largest listed oil palm plantation" company. The
merger, the largest to take place in Southeast Asia, was intended to consolidate over 6,000 km²
of plantation land. With the merger complete, Sime Darby is the largest company in Malaysia by
market capitalization.
