EPI User manual for easy configuration at Site
Shift = To Enter to any particular menu or to shift left when changing values.
Mode = To Change main mode/menu or to shift right when changing values.
UP = To Increase sub Menu/Value.
Down = To Decrease sub menu/Value.
1st step: Meter unlock: (meter unlock required every time when you need to change anything in flow meter)
Press “Mode” twice you will see menu 200 at the upper line of display and 201 at the lower line. Now, press “Up”
key till menu 219 reaches.
Press “Shift” to enter to the menu, the word “9” now using “Mode” button skip to next word and by using “Up” key
enter value “0” (The password is 9001) type the password in the same manner and then by further pressing “Mode”
key you can auto exit the menu and your meter will be unlocked.
2nd step: Changing of Cross Section Area: (only required when calibrated line size and actual line size is different.)
After above meter unlock press “Mode” key to reaches to the menu “800” at the top of the line and “801” at the
bottom line. Now by “Up” Key move to the menu “813”, press “Shift” to enter in the menu. As per manual the cross
section area of 3 Inch line size will be configured which is “0.00477 m2” by using “Mode” & “Up” / “Down” Keys
change this value to “0.00821 m2” which is the cross section area for 4 Inch (Sch 40) pipe size and in the same way
by further pressing “Mode” button you can exit from this menu # 813.
3rd step: Configuration of Pulse output for Terberg (If required): (normally for all AESL meter Pulse already
configured from EPI, USA)
Now, after exiting from menu 813, where “800” is at the upper line and “813” at the lower line your meter is still
unlocked and you can do the further changing as required, now by using “Down” key you can decrease the lower line
menu till 801 then further decreasing by using “Down” key the lower line shows other menu and you will have to go
at menu # 400 at lower line, then press “Shift” key, menu # 400 will appear at the upper line an 401 will appear at
the lower line, press “Shift” to enter to menu # 401 put the value as follows and exit all the menus by using “Mode”
Key.
Menu # 401 = 1
Menu # 407 = 2
Menu # 401 = 2
Menu # 410 = 1
Connection diagram is provided in the “EPI Imp Papers” file, which are 10 & 11 at the above strip.
4th step: full scale Value & Meter totalizer RESET: (this RESET required when you need to Zero the Total flow)
In the same way mentioned above at menu # 410, start pressing “Down” key your lower menus will start decreasing
press it till menu # 100 appears at lower line, then press “Shift” key, now menu # 100 will appear at upper line and
“101” will appear at lower line by using “Up” key you can go to menu # 140 and by pressing “Shift” key you can enter
to the menu # 140, this menu will show you the maximum flow range @ 20 mA output, this simply means that this if
you want this output at any other totalizer / Screen you can see it remotely.
Note: you can decrease this output range as per requirement but can’t increase it due to the pre-calibration of
flow velocity.
Now, exit this menu by using “Mode” or “Shift” key and by using “Up” key go to menu # 160 which is next to menu #
140 and press “Shift” your meter’s Totalizer value will be Zero.
5th step: Changing of C-Factor (menu # 811) (if required): (Please do not change this menu without consulting
Innovative Engineers, Inc)
Reference with the manual the value of C-Factor should be “0.868” for ½” OD probe at 4 Inch line size (Sch 40), but
currently (since 2013) EPI is configuring the value of “1” for C-factor, initially you should not require to change this C-
Factor and observe the flow results against the power generation but if you observe that the results should be 0.275
Nm3/Kw and currently its 0.285 Nm3/Kw, this could be happened due to the following reasons.
Due to all above reasons the results could be varied, that’s why you can decrease the C-Factor between 1 ~ 0.868
(not further), to get the accurate required results of 0.275 Nm3/hr.
Now, you will required to ask the following from M/s: Enercon to configure it at your EPI flow Meter.
