National webinar on “Student Induction Programme”

Organised by Dr. Prasanthi, Director, JNTUA, Anantapuramu

The director elaborated the mandate of organising “Student Induction Programme”


while entering a student to the Engineering College in any Branch. The main objective of the
webinar is to educate the faculty members and college authorities in conducting the
programme.

The resource person of the webinar Dr. Vanchna Singh emphasized the importance
in conducting and the way to conduct the same. She reminded that the students who are
joining the college are like buds. It is the duty of a teacher to mould and motivate them as
warrior in their interested and specialised areas. Students who are joining a institute,
majorly from a rural background. They may have inner skills, but they do know to utilize
properly. It is the institute duty to educate and encourage them in right direction in right
time.

Student should be known the importance of communication skills, Universal Human


Values, Physical Activities, state-of-art labs, Professional ethics, yoga, meditation, mentoring,
Workshops, Expos, Fests, industrial visits, clubs, online courses, internships, projects, etc. By keeping
all these points in mind, the Student Induction Programme should organised in 3-weeks at a starch.

The graduating student must have knowledge and skills in the area of study. However, one
should also have broad understanding of society and relationships. Character needs to be nurtured
as an essential quality by which they would understand and fulfil responsibility as an engineer, a
citizen and a human being.

The resource person emphasized the faculty members of participating in a Faculty


Development Programmes especially UHV courses.. Induction programme should be organised such
way that the student should feel comfortable to learn and work in an Institute environment. Student
should know the culture of the institution and local areas. The purpose of conducting the Induction
programme is to create the awareness of his/her engineering life in those 21 days.
