Ancient Glory: India, known as Bharat, was once a global
leader in knowledge, trade, and culture. It gave the
world advancements in mathematics, science, art, and
spirituality .
Colonial Struggles :Centuries of foreign rule drained
India’s resources and slowed its progress. When India
gained independence in 1947, it faced challenges like
poverty, illiteracy, and underdevelopment. The Turning
Point: The 1991 economic reforms opened doors to
globalization and rapid growth. Initiatives like Green
Revolution, space missions (ISRO), and advancements
in IT transformed the nation.
Today’s India:A rising global power balancing its rich
heritage with modern aspirations.On the path to
becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047, the centenary of
its independence.
2.CURRENT ACHIEVEMENTS OF BHARAT
India's progress across various sectors is propelling it towards
becoming a global superpower.
1. Economic GrowthGlobal Ranking: India is the 5th largest economy with a GDP of
$3.7 trillion (2023), surpassing the UK. First and Second Economies: The USA is the
largest with a GDP of $25.5 trillion. China follows with a GDP of $18 trillion. Third and
Fourth Economies: Japan is third with a GDP of $4.4 trillion. Germany is fourth with a
GDP of $4.3 trillion. Fastest Growing Major Economy: India’s GDP growth for 2023-24 is
projected at 6-6.5%, outpacing many developed nations. Contribution to Global
GDP: India contributes around 7% to the global economy, and its share is expected
to grow further.
2. Digital Transformation with UPIUnified Payments Interface (UPI):UPI has
revolutionized India’s payment system and is now a global benchmark for financial
inclusion. Transaction Volume: UPI processed over 10 billion transactions in October
2023 alone. Annually, UPI handles transactions worth over $1.5 trillion. Rural
Penetration: More than 40% of UPI transactions now come from rural areas, showing
its success in connecting villages to the digital economy. Small shopkeepers, farmers,
and daily wage workers are adopting UPI for cashless payments. Global Expansion:
UPI is being adopted in countries like Singapore, UAE, and France, boosting India’s

(2023):India became the first country to land on the Moon’s south pole, showcasing
its innovation and precision in space exploration. Mars Orbiter Mission (2014):India
achieved a historic feat by entering Mars orbit on its first attempt at a low cost of $74
million. Global Space Partner: ISRO provides satellite services to over 50 countries and
is a key player in commercial space ventures.
3.IMPORTANCE OF VIKSIT BHARAT
Global Trade Hub: India sits at the center of the Indian Ocean, where 60% of
the world’s trade flows. A strong and developed India can make global trade
smoother and safer.
Leader in Space Technology: With achievements like the Chandrayaan and
Mangalyaan missions, India is becoming a leader in space exploration. A
Viksit Bharat will use space technology for better communication, disaster
management, and helping other nations.
Strong Security Forces:India’s army, navy, and air force protect not just its
borders but also ensure safety in the Indian Ocean, where much of the world's
trade happens. A developed India will have stronger defense systems to
protect its people and contribute to global peace.
Better Living for Citizens: A developed India means better jobs, advanced
healthcare, and quality education for everyone.It ensures safety, prosperity,
and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Innovation and Sustainability: India can lead in new technologies like green
energy and artificial intelligence. It will inspire other countries by balancing
growth with protecting the planet.
A Global Power:As a Viksit Bharat, India will shape global decisions and
promote peace, cooperation, and progress for all nations.
4. Infrastructure Development
Smart Cities Mission: Over 100 smart cities are being developed, each with modern
technology, better living standards, and sustainable solutions.
Patna Metro: Patna, the capital of Bihar, is also part of India’s growing urban transformation
with the launch of Patna Metro. The metro system will enhance connectivity, reduce traffic, and
contribute to more efficient urban transportation, making Patna a part of the smart city
movement.
Transport Revolution: Vande Bharat Express trains symbolize India’s leap in high-speed
rail.50,000 km of highways have been built in the last decade, improving road connectivity
nationwide.
Green Energy Leadership: India is the third-largest producer of renewable energy with a
capacity of over 125 GW in solar and wind power.

artificial intelligence, space exploration, and digital technology, contributing
globally in key areas like healthcare, defense, and infrastructure. Inclusive
Growth: Poverty will be eradicated, and every citizen will have access to quality
