The research focuses on the environmental architectural aspects of the nursing facility,
emphasizing healing architecture and biophilic design principles. These principles integrate
natural elements, such as natural light, greenery, and outdoor spaces, to create a therapeutic
environment that fosters physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. The study also
examines behavioral patterns of users to design spaces that support independence, safety, and
social interaction. Areas included in the scope are residential rooms, therapeutic gardens,
rehabilitation spaces, common areas, and staff facilities, ensuring that the design aligns with the
unique needs of the aging population. Additionally, the research incorporates an evaluation of the
suitability of Silang, Cavite, as the location, focusing on its accessibility, climate, and
community-oriented culture to support the facility’s goals.
The study deliberately excludes detailed operational plans, financial feasibility analysis,
and the engineering components of the facility, such as electrical, structural, and plumbing
systems, as they fall outside the architectural scope. Instead, the research emphasizes sustainable
and resilient planning, compliance with laws, codes, standards, and restrictions, and the
application of planning and design theory to create a facility that serves as a model for modern,
efficient, and compassionate eldercare in the Philippines.
Limitations
1. Time constraints. The project timeline is limited to two (2) months, which compresses the
research, design, and validation phases. This constraint may result in rushed analyses or
incomplete exploration of potential innovations, reducing the depth and breadth of the final
output. Additionally, the tight timeline may conflict with other academic requirements,
leading to increased stress and divided attention among the researchers.
2. Limited data and resources. The study relies heavily on secondary data due to restricted
access to primary sources such as local eldercare data or interviews with healthcare
professionals and potential residents. This limitation affects the ability to gather insights
tailored to the specific needs of the target demographic in Silang, Cavite.
