honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct. Engineers' work directly impacts
the quality of life, public safety, and welfare. To ensure ethical conduct,
professional codes of ethics are established, emphasizing engineers'
responsibilities and their commitment to public safety, fairness, and
equity.

Purpose of Codes of Ethics

Codes of ethics serve multiple purposes, including:

1. Protecting public interest and safety.


2. Offering professional guidance and inspiration.
3. Establishing shared ethical standards.
4. Supporting responsible professionals.
5. Enhancing the profession's image.
6. Contributing to education and deterring misconduct.

IEB Code of Ethics


The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) mandates its members to
follow a professional code of ethics to ensure integrity, fairness, and
public safety in their professional conduct.
IEEE Code of Ethics
The IEEE members pledge to uphold ethical conduct, emphasizing
integrity, responsibility, and respect. Key principles include:

1. Prioritizing public safety, health, and welfare.


2. Advocating sustainable practices and protecting privacy.
3. Avoiding conflicts of interest and unlawful behavior.
4. Accepting and providing honest criticism and crediting
contributions.
5. Maintaining technical competence and transparency.

8. Supporting colleagues in adhering to the ethical code.

These codes ensure that engineers act responsibly, prioritize societal
