 যেসব word দ্বারা য ান action বা াজ, occurrence বা ঘটনা অথবা state of being বা হওয়া বুঝায়, তাক verb

বকে। সাধারণত verb বযতীত sentence গঠন হয় না।

 Example : Miraz plays cricket.

 Non-Finite Verb: যে verb sentence এর অথম সম্পূ ণরূ


ম কপ প্র াশ রকত পাকর নয়া, তাক Non-Finite Verb বকে।

 Note: Non-Finite Verb এর মনমদমষ্ট য াকনা tense থাক না এবং মবমভন্ন mood প্র াশ রকত পাকর না।

 Example: He wants to buy a shirt. After finishing my homework, I will go to the playground.

Swimming is a good exercise.

Auxiliary Verb and Principal Verb

 Principle Verb: যে verb অকনযর সহায়তা ছাড়াই স্বাধীনভাকব বাক যর অথম প্র াশ রকত পাকর তা Principal Verb বকে।

 Example : I have an umbrella.


 Auxiliary Verb: যে Verb Principal Verb এর tense, voice, mood অনু োয়ী বাক যর অথম প্র াকশ সহায়তা কর,

তাক Auxiliary Verb বকে। Auxiliary Verb যিাট 16 মট।


Primary Auxiliary- “be”, “have”, “do”
Modal Auxiliary Verb- can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would
Semi- Modal Auxiliary verb- ought to, need, dare, used to

 Note: Transitive verb েু ক্ত Sentence এ Direct Object থাক । এবং object সবমদা noun/pronoun। তাই verb
এর পকর noun/pronoun থা কে, ঐ verb মট transitive verb.

 Impersonal Verb: যে intransitive verb য ান মনমদমষ্ট subject এর াজ না কর আ ৃ মত ঘটনা এবং state of
being মনকদমশ কর তাক Impersonal verb বকে।
 Note: Impersonal verb েু ক্ত sentence it মদকয় শুরু হয় এবং য ান মনমদমষ্ট Subject যনই।
 Example: It is raining. It seems she is late. It is important to eat healthy.
 Cognate verb: যে intransitive verb তারই noun form বা সিজাতীয় য ান noun য object রূকপ গ্রহণ কর,
তাক Cognate verb বকে।
 Note: Cognate verb প্রায়ই noun objective এর সাকথ suffix / prefix েু ক্ত হকয় ততমর হয়। Cognate verb এবং
তার noun এর িূ ে এ ই এবং Cognate verb তার noun এর সাকথ সরাসমর সম্প মেুক্ত।

 Past Participle: verb এর সাকথ “ed”, “d”, “t”, “en” অথবা “n” েু ক্ত হকয় Past participle গমঠত হয়। Past
Participle িূ েত Perfect tense এবং Passive voice এ বযবহার হয়।
 Example: The painted walls look good. We had seen that movie before.
 Perfect participle: having + past participle য perfect participle বকে।
 Example: Having been warned about the weather, they took umbrellas. Having eaten lunch, they
went back to work.

Stative and Event Verb

 ii. Gerund: সংজ্ঞা : যে verb বামহয াজ রা না বু মঝকয় অবস্থা বু ঝায় তাক stative verb বকে।
 Note: সাধারণত এই verb thoughts, emotions, relationships, measurements বু ঝায়।
 Example: She loves chocolate. I know the answer.
 Note : love, hate, like, dislike, prefer, want, know, believe, think, understand, means, remember,
have, own, belong, posses, see, hear, smell, taste, feel, be, have seem, appear, consist, contain, include
এগুকো state verb। এরা সাধারণত continuous tanse হয় না।

Conjugation of Verb

 সংজ্ঞা : িূ ে verb এর past এবং past participle form এ পমরবতমন রাক Conjugation of verb বকে। Conjugation
of verb য দু ইভাকগ ভাগ রা োয়। (i) strong verb (ii) weak verb.

 i. Strong Verb: যে verb অভযন্তরীণ vowel পমরবতমন বা যশকষ n, en, ne ইতযামদ যোগ কর past এবং past

participle গঠন কর, তাক strong verb বকে। একদরক irregular verb ও বো হয়।
 Example : aeat – ate – eaten, arise – arose – arisen.

 ii Weak verb: যে verb যশকষ d, ed, t ইতযামদ যোগ কর past এবং past participle form গঠন কর, তাক

weak verb বকে। একদরক regular verb ও বো হয়।


 Example : add-added–added, allow–allowed–allowed.

 Rule: 1 ম ছু verb এর অভযন্তরীন vowel পমরবতমন কর রূপান্তর রা হয়।
