Section: __________________________________________ Score: _______
I. TOPIC: Endocrine and Reproductive System
II. MELC: Explain the role of hormones involved in the female and male reproductive system.
(S10LT-llle-36)
III. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW
Several processes in the body are coordinated by hormones which regulate and balance the
working of organs, tissues and cells. The endocrine system influences how your heart beats, how your
bones and tissues develop, and even your capacity to have a baby. It plays an essential role in the
occurrence of disorders such as diabetes, thyroid disease, growth disorders, and/or sexual
dysfunction.
Both men and women produce hormones in the same areas with one exception, the
reproductive glands. Additional male hormones are produced in the testes while female hormones are
produced in the ovaries.
In this week’s lesson, you are expected to:
1. Identify and describe the parts and functions of the endocrine and reproductive system.
2. Explain the role of hormones involved in the female and male reproductive system.
The endocrine system contains a group of glands that release hormones into the body. The
following table lists all the major glands in the body, with their functions, locations, and the hormones they
release.

1. How will you differentiate thyroid and parathyroid glands in terms of
location and function?

Reproduction is the
process by which organisms
make more organisms like
themselves. Sexual reproduction
involves the reproductive
system. Male and female
reproductive system differs in
many areas although they also
share a number of similarities. In
this lesson, we will be exploring
the parts of the human
reproductive system and their
functions.
Part Function
Testis Produces sperm cells
Scrotum Sac of skin that holds the testis
Penis Deposits sperms into the vagina during mating
Vas deferens (tube) Carries sperm from testes to urethra
Urethra Carries sperm and urine out of the body
Glands Provide liquid in which sperm can swim
a. seminal vesicle - Secretes a fluid that makes up most of the components of
b. prostate gland the semen
- Secretes a slightly alkaline milky fluid that is discharged as
c. bulbourethral part of the semen
gland - Secretes a thick and clear mucus that lubricates and
neutralizes the any trace of acidic urine in the urethra
Part Function
Activity 3.
Direction: Identify the parts of the female reproductive system, then answer the guide questions.
Write your answers on your answer sheets.
Guide Questions:
Guide Question
1. Why does the scrotum shrink
during cold weather or when
males take a bath? ___________
LESSON 3. ROLES OF
HORMONES IN MALE AND FEMALE
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Activity 4.
A. Direction: Using the given graphic
organizer, fill in the missing parts to
complete the entire concept showing
the hormonal regulation of the male
and female reproductive system.
V. GENERALIZATION:
8
1. How do endocrine and reproductive system perform coordinated function? (5 pts.)
2. What important concepts have you gained in the lesson? (5 pts.)
3. What are the difficulties you have encountered from this lesson? (5 pts.)
VI. APPLICATION:
1. Give at least 5 ways on how to take care of your reproductive system. (5pts)
2. Breastfeeding releases oxytocin and prolactin, hormones that relax the mother and
make her feel more nurturing toward her baby. On the other hand, how does the baby
benefit from the production of these hormones in the mother’s body? (5pts)
9
A. to look good everyday C. to recognize signs of illness or infection
B. to boost one’s self confidence D. to be acceptable to the norms of the society
_____________1. LH and FSH are produced in the pituitary, and estrogen and
progesterone are produced in the ovaries.
_____________2. Both progesterone and estradiol are produced by the follicles.
______________3. Menopause occurs when the ovaries lose their sensitivity to FSH and
LH and the female reproductive cycles slow to a stop.
_____________4. GnRH causes FSH and LH to be released.
_____________5. The anterior pituitary gland secretes two hormones: Oxytocin during
childbirth and prolactin after childbirth.
