Base on our activity, you did identify

the images inside the box. Base on it
what do you notice from these images? They are all circle sir!

Very good!

Now, based on our given, our next

topic is about Terms related to circle.

Circle. Is the set of all points in a

plane with same distance from a
certain point.

Certain point is the center of a circle.

Center – It is a midpoint of a circle.

But how will you name the circle? We name it according to its center
sir!

Very good!

(Showing examples)

Example 1.

What is the name of this circle? Circle E sir!

Very good!

How about this one?

Circle F sir!

Nice!

And lastly, What is the name of this

circle?

Circle K Sir!

Very good!

As you can see, We have here a

segment D and B.

What do you think is the meaning of

this segment?
Chord Sir!
These B and C has corresponding term
on a circle. And we called it Chord.

Chord - It is a segment whose

endpoints lie on the circle.

How about the segment D and E?

Is it also a Chord or not?
No sir! It is Diameter.

Very good! When we say diameter,

Diameter – a chord that connects two

points on the circle and passes through
the center of the circle.

If the diameter is a chord where the

segment connect with the center how
about the segment K and B? It is a Radius Sir!

Very good!

Radius – segment from the center to

any point in the circle.

Radii (Plural form of radius).

Example of Radius using diameter.

Example 1.

What is the radius of this circle?

35 cm sir!

Very good!

How about this one?

17.5 cm sir!

Very good!

And now let’s proceed to Point of

tangency.

Point of Tangency – the point of

intersection of the tangent and the
circle.

So now, let’s generalized what have

we learned.
Anyone?  Center - It is a midpoint of a
circle.
 Chord - It is a segment whose
endpoints lie on the circle.
 Diameter – a chord that
connects two points on the circle
and passes through the center of
the circle.

Very Good! Any other?  Radius – segment from the

center to any point in the circle.
 Point of Tangency – the point
of intersection of the tangent and
the circle.
