PREPARED BY:

NURUL SYAZWINA BINTI RAITHUL IDHAM

PREPARED FOR:

SHARIDATUL AKMAL BINTI

DATE OF SUBMISSION:

5 DECEMBER 2024
i. What have you learned from your experience with the topic?

In my experience with this topic which is working with client, I realized that
management of the clients is something that requires both science and this relationship. This
is because the strong interpersonal relations, effective strategic and professional approaches.
Perhaps one of the most valuable experiences is to be brought to realization that the very first
thing to clear with a client is their vision and belief. This topic emphasized weight, which is
when the client approaches with specific needs, and one must be ready to work with her or
him while still being formal.

Even though I don’t have any experiences working with clients when doing my assignment as
a freelancer. But, such knowledge is valuable in the context of freelancing. Freelancers remain
in an surroundings where we have to deal with clients who may change their working
conditions often. The topic proceed with the notions that was earlier taught about the need for
trust and communication for one to have a good working relationship with clients. However, I
know that freelancers have to sell themselves beyond the need as a service provider who
provide for the client’s needs, but as a partner who helps bring success to the client. Such
attitude help teamwork and respect to the client hence ensuring he or she reheats to this job
in the future. The levels of expectation management, of conflict-availability, of dependable
value deliverer such as the fulfillment of expectations, conflicts, and value have greatly
boosted my appreciation of the difficulties of managing clients.

ii. What are the takeaways?

I can point out countless lessons that apply to my growing career path as a freelancer
and are valuable lessons to know. First, it made me aware that client-position approach is of
most importance – it means that the client is the ultimate judge. This means not only providing
service that is hoped for but also providing good solutions for the goals clients have.

Secondly, communication was found to be the basic requirement for all effective client
interactions. Free and frequent as well as effective communication help in maintaining
harmony between the two parties in the course of the project. This is probably why freelancers
need to pay special attention here as confusion in terms of what was agreed as the deliverers
or when they were supposed to be delivered always lead to dissatisfaction or potentially worst,
weak point.

Third, the topic point up the importance of negotiations skills. To freelancers, ability to
negotiate reasonable terms like fees for services, duration to complete the project and the
work that is expected is very important in ensuring that one is able to assist his or her business.
I also realized how to avoid forming and setting up the wrong border and how to avoid what is
usually termed as ‘project bloat,’ which is a usual tool of freelancers, where one is tasked with
extra responsibilities that realize the last minute that they were not pay back for in the first
negotiations.

Finally, I learned that professionalism and reliability gives a long term advantage in this topic.
One of the better aspects about freelancing, is that your reputation is everything. Skills such
as punctuality, excellent performance, and positive attitude concerning the kind of work
expected and provided may form the basis of a freelancer’s uniqueness. This lesson has
inspired me to be a role model in everything I do in as much as I as a student I must be among
the best.

iii. What are the skills acquired from this subject?

This topic has provide me with several ability that are very specific to freelance work
and client relations. First is active listening, which will enable me to fully understand the client's
needs and even discover needs or concerns that might not be explicitly stated. It makes me
sure that I can adjust my approach in a way that I deliver results beyond expectations.

An extra competence I gained relates to strategies on how to negotiate. In freelancing, the

ability to negotiate fair terms is crucial in ensuring that one can get projects that are rewarding
both financially and professionally. I learned how to negotiate with a win-win attitude, hence
ensuring that both parties feel the agreement is satisfactory.

Moreover, the subject has helped me develop conflict resolution skills. In freelancing, it could
be a debate concerning deadlines, budgets, or creative direction. This has taught me how to
address conflicts in a calm and constructive manner that preserves the relation with the client
while getting to practical solutions.

The ability to manage time effectively represents an essential skill that I have acquired.
Freelancers typically manage numerous clients and projects concurrently, making it imperative
to prioritize tasks and adhere to deadlines. Moreover, this skill is closely linked to the necessity
of clear communication, as it enables me to establish realistic timelines and keep clients
apprised of developments.

Ultimately, the subject improved my capacity for problem-solving, instructing me in critical and
creative thinking to navigate challenges effectively. Whether it involves adjusting to a client’s
evolving requirements or challenge sudden difficulties, this competency is essential for
ensuring an unbroken workflow.

iv. Do you think you will use this skill in the future?

Indeed, I will continue to build on these skills even after my freelancing days are over
because working with clients is essentially what freelancing is all about. Such skills will ensure
that I reach a point where I can offer the highest level of service while safeguarding my
professional rights. For instance, negotiating terms and managing expectations would help
me secure projects that would not expose me to unrealistic demands that create stress or
burnout.

I think these skills will be particularly helpful in my profession as a consultant in fruit cocktail
branding. Active listening and problem solving will work well here-for example, to have
effective designs of a client's brand vision, since I would have been able to hear the client's
ideas and translate that into something creative. Even the negotiation skills that I have been
learning will eventually come handy to settle project fees and deadlines with clients in such a
way that they reflect the value of my work.

These skills can be generally applied in and outside freelancing; that is, even if I have to
expand my business or share it with other freelancers or end up going to a different industry,
the ability to acquire clients and keep them will always prove to be a valuable tool.

v. Any professional development that you feel is relevant to the practice of this subject?

In general, appreciable changes were achieved in this subject to the extent that
personal and professional growth has been enhanced. Another advantage is a greater level
of confidence in relation to clients. I have now feel that am more prepared to go out there and
handle clients with a clear mind and direction to ensure that I meet their needs but at the same
time protect myself from their ill effects.

The other advantage is that I have become more professional and reliable in what I do. Based
on the concepts covered in this topic, one can be able to produce quality work, work to
deadlines and being able to communicate effectively. Not only does this benefit the freelancers
by giving him or her a better reputation within the site but also promotes the probability of
doing business with the same customer again and the chance of the customer recommending
business to other users.
About it, I would like to note that the subject has also strengthened my negotiation skills and
time management as a consequence allows to work faster and more effectively contributing
to the result of both myself and my clients. All these has already begun to affect my freelance
work making me a better professional freelance personnel.

vi. What do you like best about this subject?

The best thing I find about this subject is that it links to practice where many freelancers
are currently engaged. It is prerequisites dealing with communication, negotiation and conflict
solve which is very useful with facing some of the issues freelancers meet. There are plenty
of tips listed, and I liked practical recommendations including the ways of approaching client
management and steps to follow during potentially contentious talks. Most of these ideas have
served to transform my work perspectives in a tangible way.

One of the other aspects that I liked was building closer relationships with clients for more
extended periods. It was enlightening to see how many freelancers were seduced by short-
term thinking, but this subject made a point of discussing how trust in the long-term perspective
is what matters. Personally, I believe this is in line with my professional ethos and thus
encouraged me to extend an effort in creating long lasting relationship with the clients.

vii. What in your opinion is the value addition of this subject to your existing knowledge
regarding the topic?

This subject has greatly helped me to widen my knowledge about client and client
relations especially within freelancing topic. Earlier to this topic, I had a general knowledge on
how to deal with clients but there was no organized the way of handling with clients I mostly
had to guess. Now, during negotiating with the client, as well as during work on the project, I
understand how it can be done, and how to work on the project in order to successfully deliver
it to the client.

It also made me aware of some other things that I had no any prior knowledge about for
instance the psychological aspect concerning client relationship. For example, knowing the
needs and fears of a client helps to answer them more feeling and adequately. When these
are utilize together with the prior knowledge I had, I believe that I am in a better position to
tackle all the client interactions and situations.
viii. Do you have any recommendations for the betterment of this subject?

Even though this topic is so big that it can hardly be considered to have many fault,
there be a couple of ways to make it even better. Another is that it could try to use real-life
examples to explain the idea that is being done in other model papers. Just regarding the
freelancers, it is always inspiring to learn how other people work with clients and what plan
they use.

Another suggestion is to increasing the number and range of spike given to industry type, such
as creative professions of a graphic designer or a brand identity designer. Self-employed
professionals in these sector be disposed to experience certain specific issues, for example
destiny of personal assessment or flexibility versus functionality. The tips customized for each
person would actually add to the relevance of the material in practice.

Lastly, the addition of additional interactive section or functioning case studies would be
helpful. For instance, how regular client interactions or even conducting a simulation of a
contract scenario allows the learner to gain confidence.
