SECRETARY GENERAL Dear Delegates and Faculty Members,
It is with immense pleasure that I, Urjaswal K. Bhatt, on
behalf of the Secretariat, extend a warm welcome to
each of you to the 5th Edition of the School of Law
Model United Nations, 2024.

At the 5th School of Law Model United Nations 2024,


each delegate will have the opportunity to speak,
participate, and learn in a rigorous and supportive
environment. Our goal is to equip delegates with the
necessary skills to engage in the art of diplomacy and
acknowledge the important role of MUN in shaping the
future of the young generation.
LETTER FROM

As a young generation, we have the chance to change


the world, to make it a fair, lively, and graceful place,
bringing prosperity and security to everyone. Every day
we get a chance to do something different—to change
the world! Our conference’s goal is to encourage the
youth to take part in different debates to meet the
worldwide challenges present today while they learn to
share their ideas and their standpoints while working
together with diligence.

In celebrating its fifth year in operation, the MUN society


of NMIMS’ Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, Mumbai, strives
to uphold its long-standing ideals of creating a premium
experience for all participants and, in doing so,
facilitating their intellectual and personal development.
This year, we are proud to introduce our committees,
which showcase our commitment to both tradition and
innovation. I hope SOLMUN'24 provides you with
inspiration and empowerment. We are thrilled to be

NMIMS' Kirit P. Mehta School of Law Model United Nations Society
(KPMSOL MUNSOC) hosts two conferences, an Intra College MUN
and an International Conference in the name of SOLMUN every
year, which is attended by hundreds of delegates. MUNSOC's aim
is to provide holistic academic and co-curricular education
experience to all the participants attending the conferences and
help them and enhance their skills to go on to become future
leaders.
A Model UN is a recreation of the United Nations proceedings,
with students role-playing representatives of different countries in
UN committees like the General Assembly, Security Council etc.
The purpose of a Model UN is for students to achieve a greater
understanding not only of the UN, but also of global issues,
through an interactive and enjoyable educational experience. It is
an attempt to engage students with global challenges, and
encourage them to think creatively with an international outlook to
problem-solving, that attracts many of the brightest minds in the
country.

The AIPPM provides a platform where diverse political


perspectives and personalities come together to make
decisions on issues of national importance. The All India
Political Parties Meet is a venture to emulate political realities
by simulating the various levels of policy and governance
existing in our nation today.
The All India Political Parties Meet is a non-technical yet
powerful committee introduced in order to emulate political
realities by bringing to light various layers of policy and
governance in India.

High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable


Development (HLPF) is a pivotal platform within the
United Nations dedicated to the follow-up and
review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development and the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).
The HLPF serves as a critical mechanism for
holding the international community accountable
for its commitment to sustainable development. By (Online Committee)
promoting transparency, dialogue, and cooperation,
it catalyzes collective efforts to address global
challenges and build a more sustainable and
equitable future for all.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a specialized


committee focusing on global economic and financial
issues. Delegates in the IMF committee simulate
discussions and negotiations to address international
monetary cooperation, financial stability, and economic
challenges faced by member countries. The committee
emphasizes policies to promote economic growth,
exchange rate stability, and effective responses to
financial crisis.
The Disarmament and International Security Committee
(DISEC) is a primary committee within Model United
Nations (MUN). Also known as the First Committee of the
UN General Assembly, DISEC focuses on issues related to
disarmament, global security, and the prevention of the
illicit arms trade. Delegates in DISEC work collaboratively
to draft resolutions, negotiate agreements, and address
challenges ranging from nuclear disarmament to the
regulation of conventional weapons.

The Crisis Committee in Model United Nations (MUN) is


an interactive and dynamic simulation where delegates
respond to real-time, evolving global crises. Unlike
traditional MUN committees, Crisis Committees involve
fast-paced decision-making, unpredictable plot twists, CRISIS
and constant updates. Delegates engage in diplomatic
maneuvers, alliances, and negotiations to address
challenges ranging from political upheavals to natural
disasters.

In United Nations (MUN), the International Press (IP)


committee serves as the journalistic arm of the
simulation. Comprising delegates who act as reporters,
editors, and media professionals, the IP committee
covers and reports on the events, discussions, and crisis
unfolding in other MUN committees. Delegates in the IP
committee engage in journalistic activities such as writing
articles, conducting interviews, and producing news
updates.
