Crochet in cont inuous spirals wit hout joining t he rounds!


Put a marker (or use a scrap of contrast ing yarn) at the beginning of each round.
The finished product using a 4.5 mm crochet hook is ~ 7.4 inches / 19 cm.

THE REQUIRED MATER IALS:


- worsted weight plush yarn "Himalaya Dolphin Baby" (1 skein)
light brown No. 80317
dark brown No. 80366
- black cotton yarn for a muzzle design and sculpt ing (I use a double Iris yarn)
- 4.5 mm crochet hook (or any different crochet hook t hat ma t ches your yarn)
- 2 safet y eyes D=16 mm (you can use different eye beads to your taste)

- safet y nose 8*10 cm (embroider t he nose wit h plush yarn if you do not use t he plast ic
nose)
- stuffing material (fiberfill/polyest er)

ABBREVIATIONS (US):
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
DC – double crochet
inc – increase – two single crochet in one st it ch
dec – decrease – two single crochet toget her

(….) х 6 t imes – repeat as inst ructed


(12) – number of single crochet in t he row
Sl st – slip st itch
You will make such cute kittens if use the same yarn colors.

I want to crochet a Siamese cat


therefore I made the ears, tail,
and paws with a different yarn color.

Arms (make 2):

Crochet the first two rounds with dark color yarn


1: Chain 2 and start crocheting in the second chain from hook 6sc
2: (1sc, inc)*3 (9)
3-6: (4 rounds) 9sc (9)
7: dec, 7sc (8)
8-10: (3 rounds) 8sc (8)

Do not stuff, flatten together and crochet 4 sc through both loops across.
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail inside.
Ears (make 2):
Work in back and forth rows
Chain 5 and
start crocheting in the second chain from hook :
1: 4sc, chain 1, turn (4)
2: 2 dec, chain 1, turn (2)
3: dec (1)

Break yarn and hide the tail.

Crochet the legs-body-head as one piece. The marker is on the backside.


Start crocheting from the first leg :
Start crocheting the first leg. I decided not to use dark colors for the paws.
1: Chain 2 and start crocheting in the second chain from hook 6sc
2: 6inc (12)
3-6: (4 rounds) 12sc (12)

Break yarn and secure it.

Crochet the second leg similarly.


Do not cut yarn and continue crocheting.

7. Chain 3, attach the first leg and crochet 12 sc to it,

3sc to the chain,

12sc to the second leg,

3sc to the chain (30)


Place a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
Continue crocheting:

8: (4sc, inc)*6 (36)

10: 42sc (42)

Crochet the tail into the body in the next round

Make sure, that the marker is in the middle. Crochet shift stitches if needed.

I crochet the tail with dark color yarn. In this round, I change yarn color.

11: 38sc,
crochet 1sc, changing to dark color,

chain 8 and start crocheting in the third stitch from hook 6 DC (tail),

1sc to the body, change to the basic yarn color,

2sc (42)

Cut dark color yarn and secure it.

12: 42 sc, grabbing the loops of the tail to


avoid creating the holes (42)

Stuff the legs only

In the next round, attach the arms to the body

In the next round, crochet the ears into the head

Make sure that the ears are on the sides.


Crochet shift stitches if needed.

To indicate the position of the ears – fold the


head in half and mark two stitches on
both sides on the folded line.
Find 2 sc on the base of the ear.
We will crochet these stitches into the head.

39: 12sc, 2sc with the ear together,

19sc, 2sc with the ear together,

Tie into a knot on the inner side between the ears.

Install safety eyes and nose :

- eyes: between rounds 6 and 7, counting from the


end of the work.
The distance between the eye stems is 9 sc.

- nose: between rounds 8 and 9,


counting from the end of the work.

Stuff the head

Complete stuffing the head with fiberfill. Tighten the hole with a tapestry
needle, secure the yarn tail and hide it inside the head.

If you did not install the eyes yet, then insert them between rounds 6 and 7.
The distance between the eye stems is 9 sc.
Insert the nose between rounds 14 and 15.
Sculpt the muzzle.
I use a double iris yarn (use a long yarn scrap).

1) Insert the needle in the middle under the muzzle


and draw it out on the outer side of the eye;

2) Insert the needle on the inner side of the same


eye under the muzzle, and skip 1 sc.
The yarn scrap is coming under the eye;

3) Tighten and tie into a knot;


Repeat similar with the second eye;
Do not cut yarn;

4) Make one stitch across the muzzle with the


same yarn and embroider the eyelids and whiskers;

Draw the yarn under the muzzle at the initial point and
tie it into a knot;

The kitten is finished!
