Foot Reflexology Routine Notes

Use the margins to make your own notes.

Routine takes 60 minutes

• SH – Supporting hand
• TW – Thumb walk
• FW – Finger walk
• R – Relaxation technique
• PV – Pivot
• H – Hook in
• TR – Thumb Rock
• FR – Finger roll

1. Explain treatment-Consultation/settling the client - 15 minutes


2. Get the client`s signature before starting the treatment
3. Charter any points noted
4. Cleanse feet and check for contraindications.
5. Read the feet – note on consultation while maintaining contact.
6. Check – temperature/texture/mobility/nails/odour.

Relaxation techniques – First right foot – Then left foot


1. Wipe the feet, then wash your hands
2. Apply Reflexology balm.
3. Greet the feet – Solar Plexus breathing – Both feet together
4. Ankle stretch – Both feet together
5. Ankle rotation – 3 X clockwise – 3 X anti-clockwise
6. 6 X effleurage
7. Back and forth slapping – side to side
8. Metatarsal manipulation
9. Kneading
10. Circle tarsal’s -thumb
11. 3 X ulna scraping
12. Wringing foot
13. Toe rotation – all together
14. Whipping on toes
15. Effleurage 6 X
16. Cover left foot

Complete the entire sequence on the right foot, followed by the left foot

Chest, lung, heart, shoulder, arm, eyes, ears.


1. Diaphragm release onto the thumb
2. Thumb walk the diaphragm X3
3. TW chest/lung - diaphragm to base of toes – Zone 1-5
4. TW chest/lung – medial to lateral
5. TW chest/lung – Crisscross– Zone 1-5
6. TW chest/lung – Crisscross– Zone 5-1
7. TW zone 1 and hook in
8. TW zone 5 and hook in
9. TR the Thymus X3
10. TW the diaphragm medial to lateral X3
11. PV on solar plexus/diaphragm X3
12. Lung press – knuckle – static – move toes back and forth
13. Pull padding down - Medial thumb walk eye and ear reflex.
14. TR eye and ear.

Toes - Head/sinuses, throat, thyroid, neck.


1. TW 5 zones on big toe – up – then down
2. Hook in pituitary and pineal/hypothalamus – then sooth
3. TW Big toe: throat, thyroid, parathyroid neck – medial, horizontal, lateral
4. TW all other toes – up – medial, middle, lateral
5. Rotate all toes together
6. Hook in and back up on each sinus
7. FR brain on each toe – middle finger on top of index finger

Abdominal area – Right foot


1. TW waist to diaphragm – up – zone 1-5
2. TW medial to lateral – waist line to diaphragm
3. TW - Crisscross - medial to lateral
4. TW - Crisscross lateral to medial
5. PV on gallbladder and duodenum X3
6. PV on adrenal -use the tendon to locate – then relax tendon X3
7. TW kidney – up X3
8. TW kidney – down – then down ureter – PV on bladder X3
9. Effleurage the whole foot X6

Heel to waist - Large intestine, small intestine,– Right foot
1. TW heel to waist – up – zone 1-5
2. TW medial to lateral – heel to waist line
3. TW - Crisscross medial to lateral
4. TW - Crisscross lateral to medial
5. TW up ascending and transverse X3
6. TR on ileocecal valve and appendix X3
7. TR on the sciatic nerve
8. Knead the heel
9. Pinch the Achilles
10. Effleurage the whole foot X3

Spine
1. TW up spine X3
2. TW down spine X3
3. Rotate on Sacroiliac joint
4. Spinal twist

Lateral ankle - Leg, knee, hip, and sciatic nerve/Reproductive


1. Cup lateral ankle – four finger walk X3
2. TW across heel sciatica and up sciatica around the ankle
3. TW lateral ankle
4. TR on ovaries/testes X3
5. TW triangle of hip/knee X3
6. TR on knee/hip X3
7. PP Sacroiliac joint X3
8. 4 fingers – effleurage the area and include around the ankle bone X3

Medial ankle/Reproductive
1. Rotate ankle 3 X each way – SH under the ankle
2. Cup ankle – four finger walk X3
3. Thumb walk up/down sciatic
4. Thumb walk medial ankle
5. TR on uterus/prostate X3
6. 4 fingers – effleurage the area and include around the ankle bone X3

Lymphatic
1. FW - Eight fingers together – walk the fallopian tubes
2. 4 finger walk fallopian tubes, first medial then lateral
3. Middle finger on top of index finger – walk between metatarsals
4. FW – eight fingers down lymphatic

5. Middle and index finger next to each other, walk front of big toe (face) 2
directions
6. Effleurage the foot X6

Abdominal area – Left foot

1. TR on spleen

Heel to waist - Large intestine, small intestine – Left foot


1. TW across transverse colon
2. TW down the descending colon
3. TR sigmoid colon

Cool down massage


1. Ankle stretch both feet
2. Effleurage both feet simultaneously X 6
3. Solar plexus breathing
4. Cover feet – hold toes
5. Give client water
6. Feedback your findings
7. Complete aftercare/homecare/explanations
8. Help client off bed

Hand Reflexology Routine Notes

Relaxation techniques
1. Greet the hand – Solar plexus breathing
2. Effleurage the hand – continue onto the lower arm.
3. Opening the hand
4. Knuckling and kneading the palm
5. Circle the palm
6. Circle the wrist
7. Interlock fingers and rotate
8. Keep palm facing up and deep knead/stretch palm out with your thumbs.
9. Circle and loosen fingers individually
10. Solar plexus release

Routine

1. Walk the 5 zones, palm and back of hand – from wrist through to each finger
2. TW each finger, medial middle and lateral.
3. PP the pituitary gland
4. Hook in and back up on each sinus – Finger roll the brain
5. Walk the face
6. Walk the neck, throat and thyroid
7. TW eye/ear reflex
8. PP the Pituitary/Pineal
9. TW the hand from wrist to eye/ear reflex – Medial to lateral.
10. TW the hand criss cross – medial then lateral.
11. Hook in and back up zone 1
12. Hook in and back up zone 5 – include the pelvic area.
13. Walk the diaphragm line
14. PP gallbladder – Right OR Spleen Left
15. PP the adrenal gland
16. Walk the kidney, ureter and bladder/TC the bladder
17. Walk the spine
18. TC the ovary/testis
19. TC the uterus/Prostate
20. Walk the fallopian tube/Vas deferens//lymph nodes of groin
21. Effleurage the hand.
22. Top of hand – TW the Breast/Lymphatics
23. Zone 5 – TW and hook in: Shoulder/arm/knee/hip
24. PP the ovaries/uterus/testis
25. PP the sacro-iliac joint
26. TW the fallopian tubes
27. Effleurage the hand and lower arm to finish.
