Aim: -To Study and preparation of the Single point Cutting Tool

A single-point tool is a cutting tool having one cutting part and one shank. They
are
machine
commonly used in lathes, turret lathes, planers, shapers, boring mills and similar
tools. The different part of single point cutting tool are:
Shank: It is a body of tools, which is not Grained is khown as shank.
Face: The surface over the chip of metal side is known as face.

Flank:
The Cutting tool surface is facing the work metal is known as Flank. There are two types like
as end flank and side flank.
Base: It is a bottom surface of shank. Generally it is having flat farming in naturally

Nose: It is a Junction of side and end of cutting edge is known as nose.

The different angle of single point cutting tool are:
Back rake angle:
The angle measured along the plane perpendicular through the side cutting edge in between
the tool face and the perpendicular line to the base.
Side rake angle:
The angle in between the parallel line of the base and the face of the tool that is measured it
the plane perpendicular to the side edge and base.
Endrelief angle:
Relief angle is in between the base perpendicular line and end flank.
The tool slope of the face is measured from the nose and towards rack. If the slope
measured
is downwards then it is negative back
rake.
The slope of the tool face is measured from the cutting edge and if the obtained
slope is
towards the cutting edge the angle is negative side rake.
If the obtained angle is away from the cutting edge then the angle is positive side
rake angle.
The rake angle will be zero if no slope value is obtained
SIDE RELIEF ANGLE:
The portion of side flank that is immediate below to the side cutting edge and the
base
perpendicular line of the cutting tool.
END CUTTING EDGE ANGLE:
End cutting edge angle is in between the perpendicular line of the tool shank and the end
cutting edge.
SIDE CUTTING EDGE ANGLE:
I#is the-angle in between the-side eutting edge and the side of the toot strank. This agte is
also referred as lead angle.
SEVEN ELEMENTSOF SINGLE POINT CUTTING TOOL:

The seven elements that comprise the signature of single point cutting tool are
always stated in the
following order.
