Margin, Fonts, and Line spacing

1. One inch margin on all sides

2. Font : Time new romans

3. Size : 12

4. Format paper in double spacing

5. Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style

The title page :

1. Hit enter 4 times

2. Center your text

3. Type out your title in boldface font

4. Subtitle below

5. Do not exceed more than 50 characters

6. Hit enter 2 times

7. Unbold your text

8. Type your name here

9. If you work with a coworker, separate your names with ‘’and’’

10. Hit enter and type your affiliation

11. Your affiliation should include your department or division first followed by a comma and then

the university you are affiliated with

12. Hit enter

13. Enter your course information ( this line should be typed as your course number followed by its

name. You will want the course code and name to match the way your university has not listed.

The course code and the course name is separated by a colon)

14. Hit enter

15. Type out your professors name

17. Type out the due date of your assignment

18. Add a page number ( right hand side of the page)

Main body/ Section heading

1. Hit enter until you make it to the next full blank page

2. You will start by repeating your title on the first line of your main body

3. Once your title is pasted on the first line, you will align your text flush left to start your first

paragraph

4. Each paragraph in your body should be indented

5. You indent by hitting the tab key

6. Headings are important when you are writing large papers because they help organize your

content and they help the reader identify the context in each section of your paper

7. Headings should be descriptive and concise, the number of headings used will be determined by

the length and complexity of your paper

There are 5 different levels of headings

Level 1 is the highest or main level of headings

Level 2 is the subheading of level 1

Level 3 is the subheading of level 2

And so on for level 4 and 5

Level 1 : Centered, Bold, Title case heading

Level 2 : Flush left, Bold, Title case heading

Level 3 : Flush left, Bold Italic, Title case heading

Level 4 : Intended, Bold, Title case heading, ending with a period

Level 5 : Intended, Bold Italic, Title case heading, ending with a period

Notes :

➔ A level 1 heading is not needed for the introduction because the title of your paper signifies the

introduction

➔ If you need to use a heading in the first section of your paper it would proceed as a level 2

underneath the title of your paper

➔ All headings should follow the same double-spaced formatting as the rest of your paper

➔ Headings should not be labeled with numbers or letters

Reference list

(should start in the next full page )

1. Type reference in boldface at the top and in the center of your page

2. Hit enter and align your text flush left

3. Your references should be listed in alphabetical order and a hanging indent format

4. A hanging indent also known as a second line indent

5. Sets off the first line of of a paragraph by positioning it at the margin and then indenting each

subsequent line of the paragraph

6. If you have a reference that begins with a number, it should be listed first

Grammar

1. The space should be used between sentences

2. Use words to write any numbers smaller than ten and if the number is starting out the sentence
