1.2 DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS

1.2.1 BACKGROUND

The last five years, after the introduction of the US$ as the country’s currency, a lot of people
chose to spend part of their income on their auto mobiles and motor vehicles, which are now
affordable, thanks to Be-forward. As a result, the need for reliable and convenient auto service
has substantially risen as well.

1.2.2 CONCEPT

Jupiter engineers is a start-up mechanical organization that offers a complete domestic and
foreign care repair services as well as a full-featured retail parts shop.

The new start-up incorporated business is managed by three partners. One of the three partners
represents the sales, marketing and the finance sectors of the business. The other two focus on
the mechanical sector and planning of the business

To be the greatest auto-repairs company in the City, as the name says it, in the next three years
and to extend our reputation the next 5 years.

Jupiter engineers aims at offering high quality auto-repair service and a full range of spare parts.

Focus on personalized service to its customers by providing convenient and comprehensive auto-
repair at low cost.

To have 100% of customer satisfaction in regard to quality, friendliness, time to completion and
in new ways to exceed the expectations of the customer.

1.4 OWNERSHIP & MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

1.4.1 OWNERSHIP

Jupiter engineers are incorporated in the city of Bulawayo at Belmont. It is privately owned by
Bruno Hlalakuhle, Shown Moyo and Thompson Mandoga. The owners do not consider taking
the company to be public.

1.4.2 MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

The company has an equally strong management team that will allow them to execute this
exciting idea. Having three partners, Bruno Hlalakuhle, who has in depth knowledge on auto
motives and motor mechanics, will be in charge of the workshop. Shown Moyo who is a
millwright by profession and has field experience on stores management, will be responsible for
the retail and stores section & also the planning. The finance and marketing will be spear headed
by Thompson Mandoga who is an expert in the field.

2.0 OPERATION PLAN

Jupiter engineers offer a wide range of services. The ultimate goal of the company is to offer a
one-stop facility for all servicing needs inclusive of brakes, transmission, wheel alignment, etc.
In this case, the company can offer greater perceived value for the customer than any other shops
which specializes in certain areas.

The industry is highly competitive, with the supplier having a great deal of power in selling and
negotiating prices of their products and services to repair shops. In addition, because the
customers see the service as undifferentiated and a “commodity” with little value separation
between competitors, buyer power is also very high.

Finally, the buying power to entry is moderately low, and the large number of competitors in this
field including substitutes (D.I.Y) means that the pricing for such service are competitive. The
only way to have an advantage in this industry is a low cost leadership principal applied
aggressively or to create higher switching costs though the building of strong business to
customer ties.

Jupiter engineers will hire trained and semi-skilled workers who are able to prove they have a
superior customer awareness and interaction. It is the company’s professional people who will
fulfil the company’s contacts and goals.

3.0 MARKETING PLAN


3.1 MARKET SEGMENTATION

Jupiter engineers focuses on the middle and upper income markets. This market looks for higher
quality, rapid service with as much convenience as possible. Most individuals in this market
segment are willing to pay an extra premium within the pricing of auto-repair services to avoid
the common inconveniences of having tied up in a repair shop.

3.1.2 LOCAL RESIDENCE

Local residence wants to establish a significantly larger customer base. This will establish a
healthy consistent revenue base to ensure stability of the business.

3.1.3 EMEGENCY TOWING LOCAL AND FREEWAY TRAFFIC

Consisting of approximately 15%, of possible market, convenience, regular referrals from tow-
trucks companies and high quality, rapid services are critical to capture this segment of the
market.

3.2 MARKETING STRATEGIES

Jupiter Engineers shall create a customer based management system for the existing customers in
one computer using a Microsoft Access program. Customers can repair their auto-mobiles for the
first three months at 10% discounts.

Thanks to the technological advancements, the company will create also an electronic work order
systems available within the service centre. This type of system creates a service history for each
auto-mobile, provides customers with a comprehensive sales document, and enables the service
centre to maintain a service customer database.

We intend to use the following platform to advertise our newly born company

Facebook: most commonly used application to interact with the world at a single touch.

Twitter: make the customers follows on important news and also throw their suggestions

Instagram: statistically speaking, there are about 400 000 active Instagram users at any given
time, so basically this will appeal for marketing the company, sharing pictures and videos.

Company website: for online comments, enquiries, queries, bookings and purchases. Make use
of pay per click.

Evangelists: first customers who are going to spread he company services throughout the town at
zero cost.

3.3 COMPETITION
The auto-motive repair industry is highly competitive with most of the big companies having
high capital costs, low margins. Many competitors have adopted point-of-sale systems in their
stores, which gather sales and gross profit data by a stock-keeping unit from each store on a daily
basis. This information is then used to help formulate pricing, marketing and merchandising
strategies. Electronic parts catalogues are available in many competitor stores along electronic
commercial invoicing systems that offer commercial part delivery.

Having agreed to the fact that the industry is clustered, less than a quarter of these competitors
offer both repair services and auto parts inventories. Jupiter Engineers will compete well by
focusing on convenience and offering a high level of customer service. Additionally, its honest
reputation will be a major factor in repeat business and building a large base of regular, loyal
customers.

3.4 PRICING

The cost of our prices is directly proportional to our suppliers’ prices and also the quality of our
services.

filters, belts, hoses and air conditioning parts, lighting, wiper blades, chemicals including oil,

Stationery (for workshop, office and retail shop)
