ABSTRACT

This study conducted at Northeastern College, endeavors to

comprehensively examine the impact of academic stress in nursing students. By
identifying specific stressors, exploring coping mechanisms, and evaluating the
role of support systems, this research aims to provide valuable insights that can
inform interventions, policy changes, and the development of effective support
systems. The goal is to create an educational environment that nurtures and
supports students, ensuring that they are not only well-prepared to provide
exceptional care but also able to maintain their stress level throughout their
nursing education. The 80 respondents of the study were the fourth year regular
BSN students who are presently studying at Northeastern College for School
Year 2023-2024. Because they are in the last year of completing their study, they
are at high risk of pressure. The questionnaire, which was adapted to suit the
study context, was pre-tested to ensure that it elicited a valid response. The
results of the study showed that the major causes of stress identified during the
study concerning academic stress, respondents strongly agreed that they were
concern about the upcoming exams or assignment that causes them to stress
out. Regarding to the academic stress to respondent’s poor preparation and
worrying about failure or pressure was the effect of academic stress to them.
With regards to strategies, praying to God helps them to cope with academic
stress.
