NARRATIVE REPORT
Teaching Strategies that Promote learner Achievement in Literacy and
Numeracy SLAC #1

Pursuant to DepEd order (Do) No. 35, s. 2022 or the Learning Action Cell as a
K to
12 Basic Education Program School-Based Continuing Professional
Development Strategy for the improvement of Teaching and learning, the
Kinder, Grade 3, Grade 5 and Grade 6 teachers of San Roque 2
Elementary School conducted a School Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session
last January 19, 2023 at exactly 4:00 in the afternoon with the topic
“Teaching Strategies that Promotes learner Achievement in Literacy and
Numeracy”.

The Management of Learning Team (MOL) started the session with a

prayer, followed by singing of Nationalistic Song and Zumba dance to
energize the participants.

The topic Teaching Strategies that Promotes learner Achievement in Literacy

and Numeracy was presented by Ruzz Mae Delarna, Teacher II from grade
3. Before she started her topic she asked the teachers role in promoting
literacy and numeracy among learners. She also asked teachers to re 昀氀 ect on
their current practices regarding the use of a range of teaching strategies
that enhance learner achievement in literacy and numeracy by giving
activity.

According to United Nations Relief and Works Agency (2013) the

responsibility for literacy and numeracy must not just lie with the language
and numeracy teachers, who admittedly are at the center of the task, but
with teachers of all subjects who have the responsibility of supporting
children in developing their literacy and numeracy skills.

She also discussed the different Strategies that show how numeracy
concepts and skills can be applied in other subjects and we should create rich
and supportive learning environment to strengthen numeracy and literacy.

The session was ended by a re 昀氀 ection quote “ Let’s put our student at the
center and craft lessons to engage empower and enhance their learning
experience”.
