Circuit Analysis I Lab.

Experiment #2

 Objectives:
 To learn how to use PSPICE program.
 To learn how to draw the circuit under schematics.
 To learn how to select the mode of analysis under schematics.
 To learn how simulate the circuit using PSPICE.

 Components:

PSPICE program for windows, which is part of the Design center

CAE, system from MicroSim Corporation.

 Procedure:
 PSPICE: is PC based Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit
Emphasis.

The Design Center software package consists of three basic

interactive programs:
1. Schematics.
2. PSpice.
3. Probe
The three programs are used to design, modify and analyze circuits.
They are called during a four-steps process:
1. Drawing the circuit under Schematics.
2. Select the mode of analysis under Schematics.
3. Simulate the circuit under Pspice.
4. Displaying the results under Probe.

 Drawing the circuit under Schematics:

 First, insert the parts you need for your circuit by choosing “Get
new part” from “Draw” menu.
The following are some components and part names in PSPICE:

Elements Parts Name

Resistor R
Capacitor C
Inductor L
Ground AGND

Voltage Sources Parts

Name
DC VDC
AC VAC
Voltage Controlled Voltage Source (VCVS) E
Current Controlled Voltage Source (CCVS) H

Current Sources Parts Name

DC IDC
AC IAC
Voltage Controlled Current Source (VCCS) G
Current Controlled Current Source (CCCS) F

 Second, place the components on the workspace on the location

you want, rotate or flip them if needed by “Ctrl+r” & “Ctrl+f”.
 Then, connect between the components by clicking the pencil
button in the toolbar.
 Finally, change the attribute value of the components by double
clicking on the value of the components.

 Simulate the circuit under Pspice:

 First, save the work done on Schematic file.
 Then, choose simulate from Analysis menu.
 Finally, Press “V” and “I” to see all node voltages and currents in
the circuit.

Part two (Assignments):

Assignment 1:

From the circuit we obtain the following results:

v1 = -12 V , v2 = -4 V , v3 = 0 V , v4 = -2 V

Assignment 2:

And from the second circuit we

get:
iA = -1.93 A
