CBSE grading:

A-1 Top 1/8th of the passed candidates

In case of a tie, all the students getting the same score, will get the same grade. If the
number of students at a score point need to be divided into two segments, the smaller
segment will go with the larger.

Example:

In case there are 24 students participated in the exam and the marks of the students are
98, 96, 94, 92, 91, 89, 88, 87, 85, 84, 83, 82, 80, 79, 78, 76, 75, 74, 72, 71, 69, 67, 66, 65
which are in descending order. Now if we divide the students into 8 groups

Now group-1 students will be awarded A1 Grade

Now group-2 students will be awarded A2 grade

Now group-3 students will be awarded B1 grade

Now group-4 students will be awarded B2 grade

Now group-5 students will be awarded C1 grade

Now group-6 students will be awarded C2 grade

Now group-7 students will be awarded D1 grade

Now group-8 students will be awarded D2 grade

Note:

• You can observe that there is one student in group2 who also got 93
marks like the students in group1, so he will be taken in to group 1 and
will be awarded A1.
• Similarly, there are two students in Group 2 got 84 marks and four
students in group 3 got 84 marks. As majority of them ae in group 3 all
the students who got 84 are considered in group 3 and awarded B1.
• Observe group 7, group 8. The students getting 42 marks will be awarded
D2.
