MRI REPORT –LEFT ANKLE JOINT


TECHNIQUE:
PD FS Axial, coronal

STIR sagittal, T1W Axial, T2 coronal

OBSERVATION:
High grade partial thickness interstitial tear of achilles tendon involving ~50% of the fibers
with fluid seen within and surrounding the tendon.
Mild ankle and subtalar joint effusion.
Diffuse subcutaneous edema seen around the ankle and dorsum of the foot.
Mild sprain of anterior talo fibular ligament, posterior talo fibular ligament and calcaneo
fibular ligament.
Ankle joint shows no subchondral edema.
The lower end of the tibia and fibula appear normal. There is no evidence of bone marrow
edema / focal lesion.
The plantar fascia appears normal.
No fluid collection is seen in any of the tendon sheaths.
The retro calcaneal bursa and the fat in Kager’s triangle appear normal.
The calcaneum, talus, navicular, cuboid and the cuneiform appear normal.
IMPRESSION:
 High grade partial thickness interstitial tear of achilles tendon involving ~50% of the
fibers with fluid seen within and surrounding the tendon.
 Mild ankle and subtalar joint effusion.
 Diffuse subcutaneous edema seen around the ankle and dorsum of the foot.
 Mild sprain of anterior talo fibular ligament, posterior talo fibular ligament and
calcaneo fibular ligament.
