Tutorial 2.
1. Consider the circuit diagram shown in figure 1.
a. Find the equivalent resistance between in the circuit below. [Answer: Req =
104.08 Ω]
b. If the potential difference V = 34.0 V is applied. Calculate the current in each
resistor. [Answer: IR1= 0.327 A, IR2=IR3= 0.119 A, IR4 = 0.119 A, IR5= 0.089 A &
IR6 = 0.208 A]

2. Two resistors connected in series have an equivalent resistance of 690 Ω. When


they are connected in parallel, their equivalent resistance is 150 Ω. Find the
resistance of each resistor. [Answer: R1 = 220.4 Ω & R2 = 469.6 Ω]

3. Each resistor in the circuit in figure 2 below is 30 Ω.

a. Find the current in the circuit. [Answer: I = 0.866 A]


b. What power is dissipated by the branch having R3 & R5 in the circuit?
[Answer: P = 2.4 W]
