What is Vantara
Vantara is a large-scale wildlife Animal Rescue, Cave, Conservation
and Rehabilitation centre established by Reliance
Industries with Reliance Foundation. Vantara, an initiative of Anant
Ambani and supported by Reliance Industries and Reliance
Foundation, is envisioned to be a haven for abused, injured, and
endangered animals. The project is not merely a zoo but a
comprehensive rehabilitation center, designed to recreate a natural
and nurturing environment akin to the lush habitats from which the
rescued animals hail.
Why It Was Necessary
Under the umbrella of Vantara, the large Rescue & Rehabilitation
Centre has provided shelter to thousands of animals rescued from
exploitative situations or near-death situations. With a staff of
2,100 dedicated to the cause, the center has provided shelter and
care to more than 2,000 animals, belonging to 43 different species.
The facilities include ICU, MRI, CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound,
endoscopy, dental scalers, lithotripsy, dialysis, and live
video conferencing during surgical procedures.
Wildlife Conservation and
Biodiversity Protection
Vantara is an animal sanctuary and rehabilitation center
for several species of animals, among which are more than 200 elephants
and other endangered wildlife.
It focuses on biodiversity preservation through the creation of a safe habitat
and providing medical care to distressed animals, therefore contributing
to the global efforts of conservationLocated in the Jamnagar Refinery
Complex, this initiative has shown how massive industrial projects
can harmoniously exist with the preservation of the environment.
It serves as a model for other industries to introduce sustainable practices
and to focus on ecological balance.
Problems Solved
This also addresses biodiversity degradation resulting from industrial
expansion through exhibiting a prototype of co-existence of the industry
and the environment. By working in collaboration with the global bodies,
Vantara will look at improving wildlife facilities in the
entire India while educating people and the schools on conserving species.
Further, through Vantara, industrial practice lacking in sustainability has be
en addressed in the fact that it integrates its operations into ecological
preservation. It serves as a model for industries to balance development
with environmental responsibilities.Through education and outreach,
Vantara promotes a culture of compassion and responsibility for wildlife,
addressing the broader problem of insufficient public awareness about
conservation issues. Overall, it is a pioneering effort to blend ethical values,
technological innovation, and environmental sustainability.
Generating Awareness in Society
It is a model of coexistence between industrial development and
ecological stewardship that promotes biodiversity preservation. It
works with international organizations to improve standards in
Indian wildlife facilities, raises public awareness about the issue of
conservation, especially among young minds. Vantara also makes a
case for sustainable practices within the industrial environment. It
shows that economic growth and environmental care can
coexist. It marks Vantara as a monument to ethics in science-
based, and community-
