LABVIEW APPLICATIONS

LabVIEW is a programming environment intended for application development, similar to

commercial development systems that use C or BASIC. However, LabVIEW differs from these
programs in that these programming languages are based on lines of text to create the source
code of the program, while LabVIEW uses graphical programming or G language to create
programs based on block diagrams.

Labview has its greatest application in measurement systems, such as process monitoring and
control applications, an example of this could be monitoring systems in transportation,
laboratories for university classes, industrial control processes. Labview is widely used in digital
signal processing (wavelets, FFT, Total Distortion Harmonic TDH), real-time processing of
biomedical applications, image and audio manipulation, automation, digital filter design, signal
generation, among others, etc.

Audio Tests

Automated testing for audio devices has become more common as the number of devices
containing a speaker and microphone increases. To increase performance, an automated
testing solution is required to obtain reproducible audio test results. Developing these test
systems has become increasingly challenging as device complexity continues to increase.

Automotive Tests

Successful automotive end-of-line test systems can simulate, measure and validate the
functionality of automotive electronic control units, mechanical parts and systems. Important
factors include high test throughput, test completion, and low system and upgrade costs. With
the increasing complexity of automotive electronics, it is important to have a flexible test
platform.

Condition Monitoring

Machine condition monitoring can help your organization avoid unexpected downtime, optimize
machine performance, and reduce repair time and maintenance costs. National Instruments
offers more powerful embedded condition-based monitoring systems and factory test systems.
NI hardware and software are now used in condition monitoring systems deployed on a variety
of turbines, compressors, generators and other industrial machines.

Data Record

What is Data Logging?

At its most basic, data logging is the task of measuring and storing physical or electrical
parameters over a period of time. A wide variety of devices can measure and record data – from
basic devices that perform a single measurement to complex systems with integrated analysis
and display functions. When selecting a data logger, take the following considerations into
account.

Types of Measure

Data loggers can measure different types of signals and sensors including the following:

 Temperature

 Voltage

 Current

 Strain

 Burden

Machinery design

Intense global competition is putting pressure on machine builders to offer machines with
higher performance, lower operating costs and more features that improve productivity,
increase efficiency and differentiate their machines from the competition. For this reason,
today's machine builders have moved from designing single-purpose machines to creating
flexible, highly effective, multi-purpose machines by adopting modern control systems and
sophisticated algorithms and integrating electronics into their mechanical machines. Top
machine builders are using National Instruments hardware and software tools to stay ahead
of the competition.

Medicine

Producing safe, high-quality patient care devices is a primary concern, but reducing
development time is also critical to establishing an early position in a highly competitive market.
By tightly integrating hardware, computing, validation, and reporting tools, the Graphic
Instruments and National System design platform provides the best solution for rapidly
developing and testing complex medical devices.

Mechatronics

Mechatronics-oriented design tools improve machine development by simulating the interaction

between mechanical and electrical subsystems during the design processes. Throughout
history, groups of engineers from different disciplines worked in silos and in sequential
development. Design decisions were made independently, resulting in longer development
times and higher costs. Now, to simplify development in a mechatronics approach, groups work
in parallel and collaborate on design, prototyping and implementation. The ability to create
virtual prototypes is a critical aspect of the mechatronics approach because it helps engineers
and scientists explore machines before they are built.
Photovoltaic Testing and Manufacturing

Photovoltaic (PV) cell testing is an important part of PV semiconductor design and

manufacturing and includes a variety of tests that help ensure product quality and efficiency.
Continuous or pulsed IV tests are used to determine electrical performance parameters such as
short circuit current, open circuit voltage, operating power and efficiency. IV characterization of
solar cells is vital for researchers and is also used during PV manufacturing to classify PV cells
for assembly into modules and arrays. Testing is also performed to validate the presence of any
open circuits or short circuits to detect manufacturing defects that may contribute to lower power
conversion efficiency.

Physics

Producing safe, high-quality patient care devices is a primary concern, but reducing
development time is also critical to establishing an early position in a highly competitive market.
By tightly integrating hardware, computing, validation, and reporting tools, National Instruments’
graphical system design platform provides the best solution for rapidly developing and testing
complex medical devices. From multi-core programmer-integrated real-time systems containing
FPGAs to operating with fast-paced data acquisition systems that require timeliness and
synchronization, NI offers commercial off-the-shelf software (CATs) and hardware to help meet
these needs.g Tools, National Instruments’ graphical system design platform provides the best
solution for rapidly developing and testing complex medical devices.

Solar Monitoring and Control

As air temperature and sun direction change, you can use various control techniques to ensure
that the maximum possible energy is generated from photovoltaic cells and thermal power
plants. Common solutions include sun tracking for heliostats in solar thermal plants, maximum
power point tracking (MPPT) for photovoltaic cells, and inverter control for grid integration.
