Instructions
1. This paper consists of sections A, B and C with a total of thirteen (13) questions.

2. Answer all questions in section A and five (5) questions from section B and two
(2) questions from section C.

3. Section A carries twenty (25) marks, section B carries forty five (45) marks
and C carries thirty (30) marks.

4. All writings must be in blue or black ink.

5. All communication devices, programmable calculators and any unauthorized


materials are not allowed in the examination room.

6. Write your Examination Number on every page of your answer sheet/booklet

SECTON A (25 Marks)
Answer all questions in this section

1. For each of the items (i) - (xx) choose the correct answer from the given alternatives
and write its letter beside the item number in the answer sheet (s) provided.
(i) The Bible teacher taught us about the Greek translation name of Bible but I
have forgotten. What is the name of it?

3. After the death of Moses, God chosen Joshua to lead His people to the promised
land. (Joshua 1:10-2:25) “
(a) What God promised Joshua about the fear of leading His people
(b) Joshua sent Two spies to Jericho; what news brought to Joshua?
(c) With three points, explain the teachings we get from the story of conquest
of Jericho.

4. In acts 16:16-21, Luke narrates the story of an innocent girl being possessed by the
evil spirit. Paul healed her in the name of Jesus because of her faith in God. With
reference to this event;

a) How effective is the church in addressing the problems of girls in your society?
(03 marks).
b) What can you do to help the less privileged girls in your society? (03 marks)
c) Evaluate the measures taken by the government against those who abuse women.

5. When Jesus called Levi, a tax collector had dinner with him together with his fellow
tax-collectors; he was accused by the Jews like Pharisees and scribes for eating
with sinners. (Luke 5: 27-32)
(a) What were the three reasons; Jews hated the tax-collectors.
(b) Some Tanzanians do not like tax-collectors in this country. Give three reasons
(c) Suppose you were a tax collector in Tanzania, explain three ways how you
would be responsible to your work to avoid being hated by people.

6. Six days after Peter’s confession, Jesus took Peter, James and John to the high
mountain where he was transfigured and there appeared two heavenly being as
recorded in Mathew 17:1-13.

a) What other event took place on his transfiguration? (03 marks)


b) Who were the two “heavenly beings” and what did each symbolises? (03marks)
c) As a bible reader, how would you use this information to justify to a non-believer
that who Jesus really is? (03 marks).

7. Jesus used the parable of the Samaritan to answer the question, “who is my
neighbor”, asked by one of the teachers of the law. In this parable the priest and
the Levite did not help the man who was attacked by the robbers but the
Samaritan helped him. (Luke 10: 25-35)
(a) Explain three reasons why the priest and the Levite did not want to help the
victim.
(b) From this parable, explain who your neighbor is.
(c) What are three ways one can become a good Samaritan to others?

8. In the gospel of Mathew, Jesus performed a number of miracles like that of healing
a paralytic man (Mathew 9: 1-8). In our current society, there are stories on media
about a woman who developed hoofs and a tail of cattle after taking someone’s
husband.
(a) What are the three differences between the two incidences?
(b) Briefly narrate how Jesus healed the paralytic man.
(c) What do we learn from these two performed miracles? Three learnings.
9. In Mathew 4:1-11 we read about the temptations of Jesus Christ and the responses
He gave to Satan which made him overcome all of Satanic temptations.

(a) In the third temptation, Satan took Jesus to Jerusalem, setting him on pinnacle of
the temple and asked him to throw himself down from it, but Jesus answered, “It is
said you shall not tempt the Lord your God” How do you interpret this answer using
your own experience?
(b) In the second temptation, Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and
promised to give him. if he would worship him, but Jesus answered: “It is written
you shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall serve.” How do Christian
today consider earthly riches in their life of serving God?
(c) In the first temptation, Satan asked Jesus to turn stones into bread, but Jesus
answered. “It is written man shall not live by bread alone.” How can Jesus answer be
used in a situation of temptation today?

10. The scribes were the Jewish lawyers who worked in Jewish courts. In Tanzania
there are also lawyers working in different courts across the country.
(a) How similar are they. Use two points
(b) Explain their two differences.
(c) What are three roles of Tanzanian lawyers?

SECTION C (30 Marks)


Answer two (2) questions from this section

11. Bible knowledge is not given an upper hand in some schools even by some
prominent leaders in the society. Based on what you have acquired from this
discipline, educate the society on how this subject can bring social, economic and
political transformation in today’s society. (Four points 15 marks)
12. God stopped people from building the tower of Babel by confusing their language
(Genesis 9:18-27) discuss the importance of communication in development. (Four
points,15 marks)
13. Marriage is said to be essential in human life. Using the knowledge from the Bible,
use four points to discuss the problems facing today’s marriage (15 marks).
