SAFE WORK PROCEDURE


SUBSTATION CLEANING

1) AIM

Establish control over tasks to prevent the main dangers produced when
performing “CLEANING OF SUB-STATIONS” within the ABI plant. Promoting a
culture of risk prevention.

2) SCOPE

This procedure is applicable to all JASAELEC EIRL personnel and


subcontractors assigned for the designated works.

3) REGULATORY REFERENCES

 Occupational Health and Safety Act 29783 and its amendment 30222
 DS- 055 – 2012 EM
 NTP 370.053

4) TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

 HAZARD: It is an intrinsic condition or characteristic that can cause


injury or illness, damage to property and/or stoppage of a process.
 RISK: is the combination of the probability and the consequence of not
controlling the danger.
 INCIDENT: An incident is a work-related occurrence or occurrences in
which injury or deterioration of health (regardless of severity) or a fatality
occurs or could have occurred.
 ACCIDENT: Unwanted event that results in Physical Damage to a
Person, Property, Process or Environment.
 SECTIONER: It is an electromechanical component that allows an
electrical circuit to be mechanically separated from its power supply.
 TRANSFORMER: Device used to transform the voltage of an alternating
electric current without modifying its power.

8) PROCEDURE

a) Conducting the pre-shift talk, give a 5-minute talk to all employees, giving
them the scope of the work to be done.
Note: The number of personnel for the work to be performed will be 2
technicians.
b) Preparation of work permits (TRA, ARO, TOOL CHECK LIST, PPE
CHECK LIST, IPERC).
c) Inform the plant safety supervisor, area supervisor and maintenance
manager

9) SAFETY RULES

A) SIGNAGE AND DEMARCATION OF THE WORK AREA; The area where


the work is being carried out will be marked using nets, barriers and cones.
Where appropriate, safe areas for personnel not working at the facility will
also be marked.

B) Technical staff will not have any type of contact with the live parts of
the substation boards or with the transformers.

C) The technical staff of our company is not authorized to open any kind of
boards as long as the engineer. manager authorizes or a Backus technician
opens the board.

D) They will enter to work at any substation in groups of 2.

10) WORK STEPS


THE CLEANING OF THE SUBSTATIONS WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN THE
FOLLOWING MANNER
a) Blowing the exterior of substation boards and transformers with DRY
COMPRESSED AIR.
b) Removal of filter covers from substation panels
c) Blowing of filters from substation boards
d) Sweeping dust and particulate matter stored on the ground
e) Vacuuming of particulate matter located on the floor and ceiling of the
substation panels.
f) Removal of filter covers from substation panels
g) Blowing of filters from substation boards
h) Manual cleaning with industrial rags and dielectric solvent on the outside of
the substation panels.

11) REMOVAL OF SIGNAGE AND BARRICADES INSTALLED IN THE


SUBSTATION.
